❗️What is happening in the Kherson region

As of 10:20 p.m. on November 9, east of the Ingulets River, units of the RF Armed Forces are retreating to Berislav and the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station. The AFU are slowly occupying the abandoned settlements and are approaching Rakovka.

Through the Dnieper in the area of Berislav and through the dam, people, equipment, ammunition and fuel are being taken out. The crossing and the dam are not shelled.
Airborne units, marines, motorized riflemen, one National Guard brigade and three of the four newly deployed motorized rifle brigades, manned by mobilized ones, are withdrawing in this sector.

West of the Ingulets River, the situation is quite different. The bridgehead around Kherson and in the city itself is held by 13,000 to 16,000 servicemen of the RF Armed Forces (Airborne Forces, marines, motorized riflemen, one SME brigade staffed by mobilized), the National Guard and special forces units of various departments.

They leave only separate sections of the first line of defense, which runs from Pravdino in the west to Snigirevka in the east.
The 205th motorized rifle brigade remains in Snigirevka for the time being. The night before, it was the motorized riflemen of this brigade who left their positions in the village and retreated. At night they were sent to recapture the settlement back.
Now the line of contact runs along the railway going through the settlement.

None of the unit commanders in Kherson and around it received an order to retreat beyond the Dnieper. Many have requested a written order, but there is none yet.

Ammunition is taken out by crossings through the Dnieper in the area of the Antonovsky bridge and in the area of River Station. They are taking out those ammunition, that they brought to Kherson in the same way for the last three days. People and equipment still remain at the locations and positions of the second line of defense (outside the city) and in Kherson itself.

According to several sources in the vicinity of Kherson and one source in the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces in Moscow, there are fears that after the withdrawal of the eastern part of the group beyond the Dnieper, the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station may be blown up, which will make it impossible for the troops located west of Ingulets in Kherson, Chernobaevka, Kiselevka, Pravdino and other settlements.

“Gerasimov, Surovikin don't want to leave the city without a fight, the Kremlin doesn't want to leave it either.
Surovikin, when he reported to Shoigu about the need to retreat to the left bank of the Dnieper, spoke for a long time about the threat of undermining the dam. That if it's undermined, then the group will not be able to retreat, and will be difficult to supply it. He arranged a whole demonstration performance, so that later he could blame the explosion of the dam on the AFU and say that we foresaw such a possibility, I reported! If it's blown up, then these 16,000 people who are sitting around Kherson, they will not go anywhere. Our government needs a people's war. It needs heroic martyrs. Undermining the dam will give them [martyrs],” told a source in the General Staff of the RF Armed Forces.

▪️Another argument in favor of undermining the dam, from the point of view of Surovikin and Gerasimov, is the need to tie down the actions of the AFU in the Melitopol direction.
While the battles for Kherson continue, the Ukrainian grouping in Zaporozhye will not be able to go on the offensive. In any case, Russian generals at the headquarters of the group and in Moscow are counting on this.
Therefore, the urban battles in Kherson, which will last at least one or two weeks, may provide an opportunity to somehow strengthen Russian positions in the occupied part of the Zaporozhye region.

Ukrainian politicians and the military are still skeptical about the statements of Surovikin and Shoigu about the retreat from Kherson. Too many Russian units and equipment have been transferred to Kherson in the last 2 weeks.

So far, this is nothing more than a likely scenario, as is the possibility of Russian sabotage at the ZNPP using the contents of the nuclear waste storage facility at the plant.
Both urban battles and sabotage at the Zaporizhzhya NPP can give Russian troops the time that is vital for them so that in November-December they don't lose Melitopol, Berdyansk with risk losing Crimea.
