On October 20, seismologists from the University of Helsinki recorded four explosions in Russian territorial waters, about 40 km from Vyborg and 30 km from the Finnish border.

The strength of the explosions was 1.3–1.8 points. The first explosion was recorded at 12:35, the last - at 06:33 pm.

Seismologists confirmed to Ilta Sanomat that explosions, and not tremors, were indeed recorded in the Gulf of Finland.
“It was such an explosion that it was seen in southwestern Finland. An explosion of a slightly smaller size would not have been visible at our stations,” said Timo Tiira, head of the Institute of Seismology.
