The competence of the EC is the application of sanctions. But their change, which makes one of the #EU countries an exception, thereby creates legal extraterritoriality and a "corridor" in favor of Russia.
🔹Therefore, if a document allowing the transit of goods through the EU despite the sanctions is adopted, then Lithuania will be left alone, without the formal EU cover, which will cause a serious international political crisis.
In fact, this is exactly what Kremlin trying to achieve.
❗️Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda has already requested additional #NATO assistance, urging the Alliance to strengthen its presence in the Baltic countries to prevent #Russia from using #Belarus as a springboard for starting a war with the EU.
"We need more troops, more military equipment & switching to air defense," he tweeted today.

▪️At the moment, at least 20 wounded are known for sure, 9 of them are in serious condition. Two people have been confirmed dead.
