Basanov was the gunner of the first company of tank battalion of the 37th separate guards motorized rifle brigade of the RF Armed Forces (m/u 69647)

On May 3, another serviceman from the Trans-Baikal Territory, 30-year-old Sergey Bronnikov died (36th separate motorized rifle brigade, m/u 06705). He was the winner of International Army Games-2016 in the Tank Biathlon competition.
He left two children, 13 and 14 years old.

Still, tank biathlon and real war are completely different things.
