🇺🇸#US called the expulsion of the deputy ambassador from Russia an "escalatory step"
"Russia's action against our DCM was unprovoked and we consider this an escalatory step and are considering our response," the spokesman said.
Gorman had a valid visa and had been in the country for less than three years, the spokesperson said.
"We call on Russia to end its baseless expulsions of U.S. diplomats and staff and to work productively to rebuild our missions," the statement continued.
🔹Gorman's expulsion comes as the U.S. and NATO warn that Russia is preparing for an invasion and ramping up its troop presence on the Ukrainian border.
🔹From 2017-2019, Mr. Gorman served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary and Assistant Director for Threat Investigations and Analysis (TIA), Bureau of Diplomatic Security, U.S. Department of State.

🇺🇸#US on Thursday warned that Putin might launch a false flag chemical weapons attack before invading 🇺🇦#Ukraine after 🇷🇺#Russia expelled America's deputy ambassador and demanded Washington pull all of its troops out of Central and Eastern Europe.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Russia's plans for a false flag operation could include a chemical weapons attack on its own people as it tries to manufacture a pretext for invading Ukraine.
▪️It came hours after Moscow's foreign ministry dashed what little hope remained for diplomacy in a lengthy document handed to the US ambassador to Russia demanding that all of Washington's weapons in central and eastern Europe and the Baltics be removed — along with all weapons already sent to Ukraine — and repeated demands that Ukraine is banned from joining NATO.
