The United States is losing to Russia in the competition of Arctic drones, writes the Military-analytical portal Modern War Institute, created at the US Military Academy (MWI-USMA)
The authors of the “study” — Cadet Tucker Chase, a freshly minted graduate of 2022 at the United States Military Academy, majoring in Defense and Strategic Studies, and Major Matthew Hanes is a US Army Special Forces officer assigned to 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne).
Researchers were frightened by a TASS article from 2019 about the intention to create in Russia a drone for the Arctic with a flight duration of up to four days.
The creation of drones of the ZALA Arctic series for the Arctic region was announced by the Kalashnikov concern. At the moment, the line of ZALA Arctic drones includes the ZALA 421-08M and ZALA 421-16E models.
Russian state media also reported their drones can navigate in the Arctic without the use of jammable satellite-based navigation instead employing the alternative GIRSAM system.
Russia plans to build an Arctic drone reconnaissance base four 420 miles off the Alaskan coastline. By 2025, the ability of Russian drones to monitor air, surface, and subsurface activity can far outpace the United States in the Arctic region.

❗️The stock market has lost $50 billion in terms of the capitalization of the RTS index, and the prices of Russian government debt securities have collapsed to a minimum since 2016.
The cost of insurance against Russia's sovereign default has exceeded the peaks of March 2020 (255 basis points).
In other words, investors now assess the risks of investing in Russian assets as higher than if oil were now worth $10 per barrel.

🔹Baikal Electronics received the first large batch of 130,000 Baikal-M chips ordered from TSMC - 5,000 pieces with a total weight of 76 kg.
🔹And in December, TSMC sent the first batch of the 48-core Baikal-S processor to Russia - 400 copies at a price of about $3,000 apiece!
