@Digueirazz: Yes, they are both MODS programs, upgrading existing vehicles to the new standard. New vehicles could theoretically be produced but the US Army is not procuring newly built Bradleys or M109s. AMPVs are new builds, but include some existing government furnished material.

They are fundamentally national security supplementals that address a wider range of unfunded requirements.
