🇺🇲🇳🇱 The US State Department has approved a possible Foreign Military Sale to The Netherlands of training equipment and services for the CH-47 Chinook and AH-64 Apache, for an estimated cost of $305 million. Training is being conducted by the US Army at Fort Cavazos, TX.
"The description and dollar value are for the highest estimated quantity and dollar value. Actual dollar value will be lower depending on final requirements, budget authority, and signed sales agreement(s), if and when concluded."

@Digueirazz: Yes, they are both MODS programs, upgrading existing vehicles to the new standard. New vehicles could theoretically be produced but the US Army is not procuring newly built Bradleys or M109s. AMPVs are new builds, but include some existing government furnished material.

@captcjm @paulmcleary: All arms transfers come with end user licenses, but sales are completely different from grants. The Biden Admin has extraordinary leverage over Ukraine because they are getting grant aid. When you buy something, the EULA is basically: don't commit war crimes.

RT @anders_aslund: Remember that in 2022 Christian Lindner blocked 3 billion euros of EU loan to Ukraine for good for petty formal reasons, causing 27% inflation in Ukraine.
Lindner is not a politician but a petty-minded disaster for Germany, Europe & the West, going behind people's backs.

RT @Stanovaya: 2/According to the latest FOM poll, public anxiety has increased slightly, but it’s not comparable to, for instance, the spike in concern following the mobilization in the fall of 2022. The current numbers are similar to those in March of this year, meaning everything remains within the bounds of routine volatility. While anxiety might continue to rise, it's already clear that there won’t be a sharp increase. Of course, the situation on the ground is different, but it’s too localized to have a significant impact on nationwide sentiment. Moreover, even if there is a sharp spike in dissatisfaction with the authorities within a specific, narrow segment (for example, due to problems with evacuation and so on), the overall trend across the country could still favor the authorities: the Ukrainian attack might actually lead to a rallying around the flag and a rise in anti-Ukrainian and anti-Western sentiments (although it may seem hard to imagine those sentiments increasing further).

RT @Tatarigami_UA: The current uncertainty around German aid to Ukraine, along with insufficient support, shows exactly why Ukraine is unwilling to simply "freeze" the war. There’s no guarantee Ukraine will receive enough aid to prepare for the next, almost inevitable, russian invasion.

RT @mobbs_mentality: Great. And it’s still not enough.
Our DIB remains extremely brittle and our contracting process overly bureaucratic.
Political debates about the extent of our engagement in foreign conflicts — whether in support of Ukraine, Israel or the defense of Taiwan — assume that the United States has the necessary hard power.
We don’t.
We fall short in manpower and materiel.
This needs to be rapidly addressed by the next Presidential admin and Congress. https://twitter.com/ColbyBadhwar/status/1825585042883752411#m

@Laurasuhoward @crazyisrael1: The Ukraine Supplemental Appropriations Acts include both funds that support Ukraine directly & indirectly, and funds that are not related to supporting Ukraine. They are fundamentally national security supplementals that address a wider range of unfunded requirements.
