Director of Swedish Military Intelligence:

"We assess that Russia as soon as possible will increase it's military capabilities following their losses in Ukraine. It would be a mistake to believe that temporary reductions in Russian capabilities are buying us breathing room"

@Mortis_Banned: I'm not sure where "appeals" on old treaties such as Montreux would be made when the original governing body is long gone.

If Turkey had signed UNCLOS, Montreux would likely remain in force under Art 35 as " a long-standing international convention in force
specifically relating to such straits."

I don't think one can blame Ankara for invoking Art 21 in February 2022 considering the level of uncertainty over the future at the time.

American cvonvinced sex offender Scott Ritter making a speech in broken Russian in front of Kadyrov's forces in Grozny, Russia, is one of the most surreal things I have seen AT ALL yet.

This timeline is fucked up.

@AlbertoOlivie13: Don't mix Ukrainian and NATO ships.

When it comes to purely practical (not related to Montreux) matters:

These two minehunters, being Ukrainian, would be targets for the Russians from the moment they enter the Black Sea so their life expectancy, especially if doing MCM ops in the war zone, wouldn't be too long.

Their job starts after the end of hostilities and I do believe the Ukrainians know this as they aren't the ones making a fuss.
