@1stFinFreecorps: Sounds more like propaganda and "following the plan" than an actual deployment of something that works.

Strange as in by book, the test program is far from finished.

1st launch, April 20th 2022: Success
2nd launch, February 18th 2023 (or thereabout): Failure

I had expected a number additional tests before declaring it operational, prehaps also a long-range shot into the Pacific.

As for indications of future long range testing, Sarmat being the most likely candidate:

New telemetry equipment has recently been installed on the Pacific Fleet's command ship/missile range instrumentation ship Marshal Krylov.

Such tests weren't uncommon back in Soviet times.

Not sure when the last one was conducted.

@krakek1: It's possible the test yesterday, something highly likely flew from Plesetsk to Kura, was Sarmat but without official confirmation hard to tell.

@DefMon3: There may be more Russian reinforcements inbound.

When looking at maps of Russian deployments, one has to take unknowns and uncertainties into account. Don't stare blindly at empty looking rear areas and conclude that there are no reserves available.

@J_JHelin @shashj @slantchev: In democracies, these kinds of discussions needs to be held, despite being uncomfortable for some.

Western support is key for Ukraine and in shaping that support for the future, independent analysis, (critical) journalism and the public debate has a non-insignificant role.

RT @bradyafr: As Ukrainian forces push south, Russia is expanding fortifications near the front line and deep within occupied territory.

This updated map shows many of Russia's new defenses and links each to satellite imagery. (1/5)

@region776: Its a 2B9 autmatic mortar. Its not so uncommon to see and was used regularly in the 2014-15 war too. They are usually towed, but sometimes mounted on MT-LB etc or even fired from the back of flat beds, but this mounting does seem novel. I can't ID the vehicle. Its not a BTR-D or BTR-MDM.

RT @laraseligman: ALSO: The first ten of the promised 31 tanks will arrive in Ukraine by mid-September. They are currently in Germany finishing up final refurbishments.

RT @visegrad24: Satellite images of a Russian Il-76 military transport aircraft before and after it received a visit from a Ukrainian drone at the Pskov Air Base in Russia a few days ago.

@EerikMatero @wanzoganzo @J_JHelin @shashj @slantchev: And by turning up the heat, pointing fingers and simplifying complex topics, one gets nowhere.

More sober, level-headed analysis, looking at very real issues with an aim of trying to find solutions and quitting the blame-game is very much needed at the current time.
