Time in nature can do so much for your mental health. If you feel troubled and anxious, worried, frightened or simply have a lot on your plate, taking time out to come down and let things go for a while will give your nervous system the break it needs. Your body needs a rest from the adrenaline rush that occurs when you are feeling stressed or overwhelmed. Your breathing becomes shallow and a ton of other things occur when your sympathetic nervous system is activated. Allowing your parasympathetic nervous to decrease respiration and heart rate is essential after facing a stressful situation.

Gifting your body β€œtime out” to enter a period of relaxation will breed recovery. The more time we spend in the PSNS state, the healthier our bodies become.

πŸ¦Άβ˜€οΈ Some Native Americans already told it in the 60’s: Synthetic shoes (which are almost all) are the worst invention of mankind. Why? Because you are not connected with mother earth. When your skin touches the ground, something is happening. The energy can flow.

That’s why you feel so good when you are on holiday, and you sit with your beer in the sun on the beach. You might think it is the beer that makes you feel so good, but it are just your feet in the sand that makes you feel: Hehhhhhh hehhhhhh.

There are many possibilities to be more β€˜grounded’ or β€˜earthing’. Even when you live in the city. There are thousands of articles you can find online. There are also some on my grid. I became a real hobbit. In the beginning it hurt to walk on stones, but all growth is in the uncomfortable. So just be keep doing it, I now even run barefoot through the snow in the winter. Step by step (literally 😁)

So if you like to improve your well-being, then the easiest thing is to connect with mother earth again.

The Time Is NOW. I challenge you to grow just 1 ingredient you like to eat this year, in your garden, on your balcony, windowsill, patio or at a community growing space. There’s no better time to become a little more self sufficient for your mind, body, soul & food security. It’s changed my life & im so grateful for it. Thank you to the people that have inspired & taught me to grow.

Banana & Honey Cake with Brown Sugar Frosting and Marzipan Bees Tutorial 🐝 🍯 🍌 I decorated the cake with pansies from my garden as well as yarrow leaves, grapes hyacinths (yes, they are safe just don’t go eating a field of them), and pincushion flowers!

2 cups all purpose flour
1 1/4 cup sugar
3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup smashed banana
1 cup milk
1/2 cup melted butter
1/4 cup honey

Preheat oven to 350Β° F. Grease an 8x8 pan and line with parchment paper. Set aside.
In a large bowl add the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir to evenly distribute. Add the smashed banana, milk, butter and honey. Stir until smooth and evenly combined. This should take about 2 minutes.
Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Bake for approximately 50 minutes - or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 30 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool
Completely. While the cake cools you may begin working on the frosting.

Frosting:
1 cup butter (softened)
1/2 cup brown sugar
4-5 cups powdered sugar (sifted)
1/4 cup heavy whipping cream

Using an electric mixer, cream together your butter and brown sugar. Once lightened slightly begin adding your powdered sugar in 1/2 a cup at a time. Allow to fully incorporate before adding more. Once you’ve added two cups of powders sugar slowly add in the heavy whipping cream. Once incorporated begin adding the remainder of the powdered sugar until desired consistency and sweetness is achieved. Frost the cake and allow it to chill in the refrigerated until ready to serve.
