A large sell order on major exchanges fueled with the breach of key support levels are likely to have contributed to the drop.
Depending on the near-term performance of bitcoin, cryptocurrency analyst Josh Rager stated that if the bitcoin price struggles to maintain its momentum in the high $7,000 region, there exists a strong possibility of it experiencing a bigger pullback.
He said:
Bitcoin continues to push down quite aggressively and would like to see a move above $7824 and hold Eyeing that previous CME futures gap that wasn’t explored at $7175 If Bulls don’t step in, I believe the price is heading that way.

The Securities and Exchange Commission also accused Longfin executives of insider trading, saying they illegally sold $33 million of stock in unregistered transactions.
While the screaming headlines suggest that the Longfin fraud is tied to bitcoin, in reality, the company has a tangential relationship to the crypto industry.
LONGFIN PIVOTED TO CRYPTO DURING BITCOIN BULL MARKET
Longfin was a fintech firm that went public in December 2017. In 2018, Longfin opportunistically pivoted to the crypto space amid the bitcoin bull market. The transition caused the company’s stock to spike 2,600% amid the bitcoin boom of the time.
In April 2018, a federal judge froze $27 million in assets owned by Longfin amid accusations of insider trading. Seven months later, the company shut down. At the time, the company’s CEO insisted that he had done nothing wrong (video below).
Because bitcoin mania was in full swing at the time, the media hyped Meenavalli’s shady dealings as crypto-centric. In reality, it was merely a run-of-the-mill financial crime (crooked accounting and insider trading).

The main goal of the Facite investment project is to develop the financial and economic environment in Kazakhstan using blockchain technology. The Facite Foundation built and operates a mining center in Pavlodar, Kazakhstan based on geographical conditions, government policies, and electricity schemes for the mining industry. The mining center can accommodate up to 2 million mining machines with a size of 180 hectares (ha) and can be expected to produce stable and consistent revenue generation based on cheap electricity. Some of the revenues from the mining center are shared with Facite token holders and the profits from the Facite Foundation's projects in Kazakhstan are also allocated to the community.

Earlier Huobi Group officially announced the opening of its Russian office, launched in partnership with the VEB Digital Transformation Center and Russian experts in the field of blockchain and exchange trading.
According to the latest announcement, the legal competence center has been launched with the support of VEB's Digital Transformation Center. The legal lab will be led by Elina Sidorenko, Professor at Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO).
“In a situation where the regulatory framework is developing more slowly than the digital industry itself, legal support is vital for business. Our specialists at the Huobi Legal Lab center will help you properly pack digital projects, ensure that digital assets do not violate existing laws and comply with international law, ” Sidorenko said (via online translation).
In addition, the legal lab will also develop and evaluate draft regulations to create a friendly regulatory environment and a favorable legal regime for digital market players in the country.

Ethereum (ETH) Price Showing Signs of Weakness: $250 Holds Key

The main support is near the $250 level. If the price fails to stay above the $250 support area, there is a risk of a strong decline. The next stop for sellers could be near $242 and $240. On the upside, the key hurdle for the bulls is near the $274 and $275 levels. If there is an upside break above the $275 level, the price could continue above $280.

Looking at the chart, Ethereum price is showing a few negative signs below the $274 level. Therefore, there is a risk of a short term decline below $260 before the price could start a decent upward move. A proper close above $275 might kick start a move towards the $280 level.

Huobi Opens First Russian Office in Partnership with State Bank’s Digital Tech Center
Singapore-based cryptocurrency exchange Huobi has officially launched its first branch in Russia on Thursday, Dec. 6, according to a press release shared with Cointelegraph today.
The Moscow-based exchange, dubbed Huobi Russia, is established in partnership with the state-owned Russian Development Bank’s (VEB) Digital Transformation Center and supported by Huobi’s regional exchange partnership program, Huobi Cloud.
The Center of Digital Transformation was created by VEB to promote blockchain and other crypto-related technologies, as its website states.
Back in September of this year, Huobi first joined Russia’s VEB Innovation Fund and became a resident of the Digital Transformation Center to share experience on crypto regulation, with the fund’s CEO claiming that Huobi’s expertise will assist in building a “legal basis that could compete with current promising jurisdictions.”
Speaking at a private event on Thursday, Huobi senior business director David Chen claimed that the launch of Huobi Russia will help to promote the company’s “leading technology and trading expertise to Russian users,” including such skills as “unmatched safety, stability, and user experience.”
Huobi Russia CEO Andrei Grachev also noted the increasing volumes of crypto trading in Russia, claiming that the volumes have “recently exceeded US $20 million in a single day,” regardless of the current bear market.
Russia’s VEB Innovation Fund, created in 2011, is reportedly the “first” Russian specialized center for support and development of disruptive technologies in the fields of management and the functioning of enterprises and government corporations, according to the center’s website.
The innovation center is exploring and implementing various blockchain projects, and houses more than 20 branches of major blockchain and tech companies such as the Ethereum Foundation, Bitcoin (BTC) tech company Bitfury, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), and others.
Vladimir Demin, chairman of VEB’s Innovation Fund, claimed that Russia is “actively promoting the blockchain market,” with VEB willing to play an “important role as a leader in blockchain research and legislation,” as reported in the press release.
Founded in 1922, VEB bank, or "the state corporation Bank for Development and Foreign Economic Affairs,” is the first international bank of the Soviet Union, originally named Roskombank. The bank is responsible for developing the Russian economy, as well as managing Russia’s state debts and pension funds.
Other Russian banks have also shown an interest in blockchain technology.
