Hi everyone, today let's talk about seed phrase security and recovery tools .Experiments have shown that if three words or less are missing, this is an easy task for a common software. The bad news is that if most of your cid-phrase is in the hands of attackers, they can use this method too.
π© Recovery is done by normal brute force. The BIP 39 list contains 2048 words, combinations of which are used to form all cid-phrases. Let's consider the number of combinations for enumeration and its maximum time depending on the number of missing words:
- 1 word missing: 2048 variants (2048^1). Time estimate: 6 seconds.
- Missing 2 words: 4,194,304 variants (2048^2). Time estimate: 90 seconds.
- Missing 3 words: 8,589,934,592 variants (2,048^3). Time estimate: 2 days.
- Missing 4 words: 17,592,186,044,416 variants (2048^4). Time estimate: 10 years, and here the window of opportunity is clearly closing.
β Now to the tools. For the purposes of this post, we'll look at two: Seed Saviour for single missing word recovery and Btcrecover with more advanced features.
1οΈβ£ Seed Saviour works simply: go here, insert a Seed with a "?" in place of the missing word phrase and pretty quickly the tool will suggest all possible words and associated addresses.
2οΈβ£ BTCRecover is used for more complex scenarios, including when you don't remember the public address of the wallet. To install, you will need to unzip the archive from GitHub and install Python. Detailed instructions can be found here. The program supports different types of wallets from BTC to ETH and Dogecoin.
π« Can a hacker guess the initial phrase from scratch in this way? The chances of this are close to zero, with 12 words missing the number of combinations would be 340,282,366,920,938,463,463,463,373,374,607,431,768,211,456 (2048^12), leading to an estimate of a maximum time of a couple of eternities.
π³ The reviewed software is completely open-source, the code can be explored on Github. Nevertheless, don't forget about precautions and don't insert sids from major wallets without real need, especially if you can't check the code yourself.

Which crypto domains are the most expensive?π

π’ The most expensive cryptodomain ever was paradigm.eth, sold for $1.51 million (420 ETH). Second place went to 000.eth, which cost the buyer (and brought the seller) $320 thousand. Third was abc.eth - the most expensive three-letter domain, sold for $250 thousand. The social protocol has unveiled details of its big update, which is based on the Open Actions concept. Briefly, UniswapX is based on a Dutch auction mechanism known as "Dutch orders", where the price of an order starts above the current market price and gradually decreases over time, incentivizing the order to be executed as soon as it becomes profitable. In doing so, UniswapX outsources routing tasks to market makers, which should help with more efficient pricing. UniswapX also features commission-free transactions, MEV protection, and no fees for secure transactions

Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) has launched on the mainnet.

Binance: disappointing outlook π¨

Friends, hello everyone. Today I decided to share with you a couple of interesting thoughts about Binance. In brief, the situation of the exchange is not the best.
π After yesterday's situation with Huobi, I decided to consider the "economic state" on other top exchanges. Binance was the first. This year the exchange has been quite stormy and, as a consequence, caused a significant decrease in trading volume.
βΊ It all started about a year ago when they were affected by the bankruptcy of Celsius and Terra. Then Binance, to somehow even things out, expanded its zero commission promotions to $13 pairs of $BTC, but this didn't help much, but instead led to additional costs. At the moment, the exchange is mainly focused on trading TUSD with no commissions.
π The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) filed a lawsuit against CZ. The regulators wanted to completely deprive the exchange of the US market and accused it of facilitating illegal activities and trade manipulation. There were even rumors of shutting down BinanceUS, but in a vote, the team did not come to a unanimous decision to liquidate the company... .

π For beginners, halving is a planned reduction in the number of newly issued bitcoins (BTC), which are created and distributed to miners who perform verification and validation of transactions on the network.
π A survey was conducted, which revealed that 60% of investors expect a bull market to start and Bitcoin price to rise after halving in 2024. More than 17,000 people participated in the survey.

π According to analysts, after a 77.4% drop in the price of Bitcoin over the past two years, the big whales not only continue to hold it, but also gradually accumulate it.
β‘οΈ Here are some figures of the biggest BTC holders:
β«οΈ MicroStrategy holds the most BTC at 152,333, which is roughly $456.7 million.
β«οΈ Marathon Digital Holdings increased its bitcoin balance by 28.94% (from $10,054 BTC to $12,964 BTC).

How $20,000 worth of NFTs were stolen βοΈ

This is Treysi. Friends, today I would like to offer you a break from numbers and statistics. I have prepared a cautionary tale for you. It happened to a good friend of mine. About how he was cheated out of $20,000.
βοΈ Let's get started. The story will be told in the first person.
"Couldn't sleep for a long time. At 4:30 AM decided to sit at the computer so my eyes got tired and I went to bed. Remembered that I have an OG role in the Sui Name Service project. Went to Discord. Wanted to get active since I haven't done that in a while. As soon as I logged into the chat, the official moderator drops a message with an offer "The first 1000 people will get a special drop from our project".
π I thought, "Wow, how lucky I am.". In the message itself there was a link where you had to connect your MetaMask wallet. I did everything, but during the confirmation stage MetaMask gave me a message about "suspicious connection", which made me suspicious. And I was starting to wonder: the Sui blockchain is asking to connect a MetaMask wallet! - weird. I mean, they have their own wallet. I also looked at the domain. It's weird too. Disconnected all wallets and forgot about it. Went to sleep.
π In the morning I wake up, go to the chat room of another project and see that the chat room where I was sitting yesterday is gone. Then I have a logical chain. I remember that at night I connected my wallet. And that's when it all made sense to me.
I went to OpenSea to check my NFT in the amount of almost 20000$, which were on my wallet. And I saw that they were all gone.
π So why did I get caught in a scam, although the message was from official moderators. In the end it turned out that the moderator's account was hacked. The link hung for 5 seconds and I got caught in them.
It's very frustrating that this happened."
