🏦 JPMorgan Gives Bitcoin a 10% Return Forecast β€” A First

For the first time in its 31-year history, J.P. Morgan Asset Management has included Bitcoin in its Long-Term Capital Market Assumptions, projecting 10% annual compounded returns over 10–15 years. That figure tops every stock, bond, gold, and real estate estimate in the same report.

The catch: JPMorgan also flags 55% annualised volatility and unstable correlations with other assets β€” enough to keep Bitcoin outside the bank's core portfolio allocation models. High returns, yes. Tidy diversifier, not quite yet.

Wall Street's most cautious major bank just put a number on Bitcoin. That's the headline, whatever the caveats.

🚨 Drift Hacker Moves $61M ETH Through Tornado Cash

The exploiter behind April's Drift Protocol hack has resurfaced, routing roughly 25,700 ETH (~$61.6M) through Tornado Cash two months after the attack. Five Etherscan-labeled wallets still hold ~84,164 ETH (~$194M), so this is laundering in progress, not a clean exit.

The April 1 hack caused ~$295M in losses and was later attributed to a North Korean threat group in a Mandiant investigation. Apparently state-sponsored hackers also observe a cooling-off period.

🚨 NGRAVE Users Hit by $2.65M Phishing Attack

Hardware wallet maker NGRAVE has been caught up in a $2.65 million phishing attack, with on-chain analysts at Bitquery tracing stolen funds into XMR1 purchases on Hyperliquid. Bitquery notes it cannot confirm every involved wallet belonged to an NGRAVE user β€” but the trail is uncomfortable reading for a company whose entire brand promise is security.

Cold storage was supposed to be the safe option. Phishing, it turns out, doesn't need to crack the hardware.

βš–οΈ Ripple Backs SEC Crypto Rules After $150M XRP Fight

After spending over $150 million fighting the SEC in court, Ripple has decided backing the regulator is cheaper than battling it. The company filed a 20-page comment letter on October 20, 2026, supporting the SEC's proposed Regulation Crypto Assets β€” while pushing for one critical distinction: an investment contract is not the same thing as the token sold through it.

Chief Legal Officer Stuart Alderoty called for clear rules to replace the agency's enforcement-first playbook, which Ripple knows intimately. The 2020 SEC lawsuit sent XRP down ~70% in days; a 2023 court victory clawed back roughly $21 billion in market cap and got the token relisted. Apparently $150 million buys you strong opinions about regulatory clarity.

β‚Ώ Bitcoin ETFs Stay Green; Ether and SOL Keep Bleeding

U.S. Bitcoin ETFs pulled in another $23.16M on Tuesday β€” modest, but enough to keep the week in the green after Monday's $526.6M surge. Two days, $550M combined. Not bad for a market that's supposed to be nervous.

Ether ETFs weren't so lucky, with outflows persisting into the session. Solana extended its losing streak to 12 consecutive days of net redemptions β€” at some point that stops being a streak and starts being a statement.

βš–οΈ France wants exchanges liable for DeFi access failures

France's Treasury, AMF, Banque de France, and ACPR have jointly proposed that regulated crypto exchanges be held liable for certain customer losses when they provide DeFi access without adequate due diligence. The proposal, submitted as part of the EU's MiCA review, would require platforms to screen DeFi protocols before opening them to users.

In short: offer the on-ramp, own the risk. Whether Brussels bites is another question β€” but if it does, the compliance burden on centralized platforms just got considerably heavier.

🚨 Polkadot's Fearless Wallet Leaks Private Keys β€” Move Now

The Polkadot Foundation is urging Fearless Wallet users to generate fresh keys and move funds immediately after a private-key leak was discovered in a Chrome extension version still listed on the store. Around 6,000 users were running the affected version at the time of the warning.

Chrome hadn't pulled the extension yet β€” which is its own kind of problem.

β‚Ώ Bitcoin ETFs Pull $663M as BTC Eyes $84,300 Resistance

US spot Bitcoin ETFs hauled in $663M in a single day β€” the strongest inflow in weeks β€” as BTC clawed back toward the $84,300 level that's been capping upside. Whether that wall holds or breaks will say a lot about whether this rebound has real legs or is just another fakeout in a choppy structure.

Meanwhile, Switzerland quietly became more interesting: the country has opened a regulated retail access route for Bitcoin, adding another jurisdiction to the list of places where ordinary people can buy BTC through compliant channels.

Institutional appetite plus expanding retail infrastructure β€” the setup looks constructive, even if the chart still has homework to do.

βš–οΈ US softens stablecoin reserve rules under GENIUS Act

The OCC dropped its 721-page stablecoin final rule the same day Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent invoked the National Currency Act of 1863 β€” not a subtle historical flex. Bessent framed the GENIUS Act as a cornerstone of America's claim to crypto dominance.

The American Bankers Association isn't celebrating. Banks are warning that looser reserve requirements could shift billions away from traditional lending β€” a tension baked into any attempt to legitimize stablecoins without disrupting the existing financial plumbing.

Regulatory milestone or quiet giveaway to crypto? Probably a bit of both.

🏦 Visa in Talks to Buy Fireblocks for $2.5B

Visa is reportedly in late-stage talks to acquire crypto custody and infrastructure firm Fireblocks for around $2.5 billion β€” a price tag that sounds impressive until you note it's nearly 69% below Fireblocks' 2022 valuation. The deal, cited by Axios from multiple sources, would mark a significant push by the card giant into stablecoin payments and institutional crypto infrastructure.

A $2.5B bargain-bin buy for one of crypto's most established custody platforms. The 2022 bubble giveth, and the 2025 M&A market taketh away.

🚨 Coldcard Flaw Lawsuit: $140M in Bitcoin Allegedly Drained

A proposed class action filed September 11, 2026 is targeting Coinkite, the maker of Coldcard hardware wallets, over a five-year-old security flaw that allegedly exposed customers to devastating losses. The core claim: Coldcard devices generated predictable recovery phrases, making wallets vulnerable to theft β€” and attackers reportedly took full advantage, draining over $140 million in bitcoin.

Hardware wallets are supposed to be the gold standard of self-custody. A predictable seed phrase is about as reassuring as a bank vault with a combination of "1234."

πŸ”· Ethereum delays Glamsterdam testnet over contract security risk

The planned Hoodi testnet activation for Glamsterdam has been scrapped after security researchers at ChainSecurity flagged a critical issue: new gas rule changes in the upgrade could allow smart contracts to permanently record failed operations β€” a meaningful behavior change for existing deployed code.

ChainSecurity identified 13 real-world contracts potentially affected and is coordinating responsible disclosure with the projects involved. No new activation date has been announced.

A delay is the right call β€” shipping a gas change that quietly breaks live contracts would be a much worse headline.

βš–οΈ NY AG Chases $1.37B from NovaTech Founders Who Fled

New York Attorney General Letitia James is pursuing $1.37 billion from the founders of NovaTech, a crypto platform that collected $1.16 billion from investors while trading only a fraction of it β€” classic Ponzi arithmetic. The founders have since fled the US.

James has already secured nearly $6 million in settlements from four promoters tied to both NovaTech and the related AWS Mining fraud schemes. The $1.37 billion demand targets the companies' founders directly. Running away apparently didn't close the tab.

βš–οΈ Blockchain Association pushes 10-point crypto tax reform plan

The Blockchain Association has written directly to Congressional party leaders demanding clearer crypto tax legislation. Their wishlist includes a de minimis exemption for small transactions, wash sale rules aligned with crypto's volatility, and β€” critically β€” no tax triggered when holders simply move assets between their own wallets.

With an estimated 67 million Americans holding crypto, the stakes are real. Whether Congress acts before the next bull cycle, or leaves holders navigating the same legal fog, remains the open question.

β‚Ώ Bitcoin Core kills long embargoes for AI-discoverable bugs

Bitcoin Core has overhauled its security disclosure policy, scrapping extended embargo periods for vulnerabilities classified as "easily discoverable" β€” meaning anything an attacker could surface with a single AI prompt. Fixes will now be backported and releases cut immediately when such flaws are identified.

The move is a frank acknowledgment that the old "sit on it quietly" approach doesn't hold up when a chatbot can do the reconnaissance. If AI lowers the bar for finding bugs, the patch cycle has to move faster than the threat.

🚨 UAE Operation Traces $39B in Fraud-Linked Crypto, 960+ Arrested

A three-month UAE-led crackdown spanning 30 countries has traced over $39 billion in funds and cryptocurrencies tied to scam activity, resulting in 960+ arrests and raids on 29 fraud centers. Private sector heavyweights β€” Huawei, Mastercard, and Meta β€” joined 13 partners in the joint effort dubbed Operation Confrontation Ghost.

The scale is staggering. Whether $39 billion in traced assets translates to equivalent seizures remains unclear, but as a signal of coordinated global intent to chase crypto-linked fraud money, this one's hard to ignore.

🏦 Franklin Templeton Files Two Hybrid Bitcoin ETFs on Nasdaq

Franklin Templeton has registered two new Bitcoin ETFs for Nasdaq listing under tickers FBEQ and FIBT, per an October 22, 2026 Form 8-A filing. The twist: both funds pair U.S. equity indexes with bitcoin exposure funded by stock dividends β€” essentially letting equities do the heavy lifting while dividends flow into BTC.

The structure follows a growing trend of hybrid products blending traditional finance mechanics with crypto exposure. Wall Street keeps finding new ways to package bitcoin for the suit-and-tie crowd.

πŸ”· 169,770 ETH Leaves Exchanges in Biggest Outflow Since June

About 169,770 ETH β€” roughly $407 million β€” was pulled off centralized exchanges in a single day on Oct. 23, the largest daily net withdrawal in over four months, according to Santiment. The last comparable move was June 5, when ~223,800 ETH exited near what Santiment flagged as a local buying opportunity.

This comes as Ethereum ETFs have shed over $1 billion in October outflows. Large exchange withdrawals typically signal holders moving coins to self-custody β€” historically associated with reduced sell pressure. Whether that dynamic holds this time is, as ever, the question.

🚨 X100 Governance Exploit Drains $4.85M in USDT

A governance takeover on X100 let attackers convert treasury tokens and liquidity positions into $4.85 million USDT across just two transactions. Blockaid flagged the Ethereum-based attack as still ongoing at the time of warning.

Governance exploits remain one of the cleaner heists in DeFi β€” seize control of the protocol, vote yourself the treasury, exit. No lock-picking required.

🚨 Chinese National Extradited for $36.9M Crypto Scam

Zheng Zhao, a 44-year-old Chinese national, has been extradited from the Netherlands and arraigned in a California court on money laundering charges tied to an alleged crypto scam exceeding $36.9 million. Investigators identified 174 American victims whose funds allegedly flowed through offshore banking and digital wallets.

The Netherlands-to-US pipeline for crypto fraud suspects is getting well-traveled. Whether the charges stick is for the courts β€” but the extradition itself sends a message that cross-border crypto crime has a shrinking hiding radius.
