🚨 CryptoBilis Thief Pushes 464 ETH Through Tornado Cash

A wallet tied to the CryptoBilis thefts has routed 464 ETH into Tornado Cash, using an intermediary and four deposit wallets to obscure the trail. The source address still holds roughly 700 ETH — so the laundering operation appears far from finished.

₿ Tom Lee Refreshes His $100K BTC, $7.5K ETH Calls

Fundstrat co-founder Tom Lee reiterated his year-end targets in an Oct. 7 presentation: Bitcoin at $100,000 and Ethereum at $7,500. Lee, who also chairs Bitmine Immersion Technologies, attributed the potential upside to institutional adoption driving another extended rally.

Ambitious? Sure. But Lee has been in this rodeo before — sometimes right, sometimes early, always loud. Whether the cycle cooperates is another matter entirely.

₿ Bitcoin-Native Life Insurer Raises $37.5M from Bain Capital Crypto

A Bermuda-based life insurer that runs entirely on Bitcoin — backed by Sam Altman — has raised $37.5 million from existing investors led by Bain Capital Crypto. The round follows what the company describes as a record year, fueled by demand from wealthy families across Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.

Apparently "just put it in Bitcoin" is now a legitimate estate-planning strategy for the ultra-rich.

₿ Metaplanet Sold 10K BTC — Then Bought 11K Back Higher

Metaplanet didn't panic-sell — it made a point. The Japanese Bitcoin treasury company sold 10,000 BTC and repurchased 11,000 at a higher average price, deliberately demonstrating to prospective creditors that it's willing to liquidate holdings when needed. The Oct. 5 disclosure framed the round-trip trade as a financing strategy: proving liquidity discipline is apparently the price of admission for a credit rating.

Turns out "HODL forever" isn't the pitch that wins over bond markets.

🚨 COLDCARD's X Account Hijacked to Harvest Seed Phrases

A phishing post appeared on COLDCARD's official X account, directing Bitcoin users to a fake wallet-migration site designed to steal recovery phrases. The post has since been deleted.

COLDCARD found no matching login record in its own systems — suggesting the account was compromised without a conventional sign-in — and has requested an investigation from X. A researcher confirmed the fake domain was purpose-built to collect wallet seed phrases. If you saw that link and clicked through, assume your recovery phrase is compromised.

₿ Bitcoin ETFs Bleed $679M in Sharp Weekly Reversal

US spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $679 million in net outflows last week, with the bulk of the damage concentrated on Oct. 7–8. That two-day stretch alone drove a $920 million swing from the prior week's positive flows, flipping the two-week combined total into negative territory.

The honeymoon, it seems, has its rough patches.

🚨 Liquid Network Still Frozen 35 Days After 4,000 BTC Exploit

An attacker exploited a vulnerability in Liquid Network's Elements software 35 days ago, draining nearly 4,000 BTC. About 3,400 BTC has been recovered, but a ~602.53 BTC shortfall means reserves cover only 85.8% of outstanding L-BTC — and redemptions remain suspended while an independent security audit of Elements v23.3.4 runs its course.

Transfers resumed September 10, but actually getting your bitcoin out? Still not an option. For L-BTC holders, "your keys, your coins" has a new asterisk.

🏦 South Korea's First Bitcoin-Backed Bank Loans Are Here

Jeonbuk Bank has quietly made history, launching South Korea's first bank-issued won loans backed by Bitcoin. Corporate clients can now pledge their BTC holdings as collateral for business financing — no selling required.

The structure keeps the bank at arm's length from the crypto itself: registered third-party custodians hold the collateral while Jeonbuk supplies the won, never taking ownership of the pledged assets. The program is currently corporate-only, with expansion contingent on regulatory shifts and market demand.

The obvious question hanging over the whole thing: what happens when BTC drops 30% overnight? The bank's collateral monitoring and valuation framework will face that test eventually.

🚨 UK Freezes $12M Penthouse Tied to $14B Bitcoin Scam

British authorities have frozen a £12 million London penthouse belonging to Thet Li, alleged finance chief of the Prince Group — a scam operation linked to $14 billion in Bitcoin that the U.S. has moved to seize.

Li is accused of running the financial machinery behind the empire. The asset freeze is the UK's piece of what appears to be a coordinated cross-border crackdown. Turns out a luxury penthouse is a surprisingly traceable place to park proceeds from a crypto fraud empire.

🔷 Bitmine Nears 'Done Stacking' at 4.9% of All ETH

Bitmine (BMNR) added 12,532 ETH (~$32M) last week, pushing its Ethereum treasury to 6.03 million tokens — 4.9% of total supply, with 84% of holdings staked. Chairman Tom Lee says the firm is nearly "done stacking" and predicts what could be the largest crypto bull market ever, though he stops well short of guarantees.

Controlling nearly 5% of a major asset's entire supply is a bold concentration play. Whether the bull market Lee envisions materialises is another question entirely.

⚖️ France may tax your BTC-to-USDC swap as a sale

A committee-approved amendment in France would end the current tax deferral on crypto-to-crypto swaps — specifically when swapping into MiCA-compliant e-money tokens like USDC. Under the proposal, that move would trigger a taxable event before investors ever touch fiat. The amendment would also change how the acquisition basis is calculated for gains.

In short: parking into stablecoins would no longer be a free pass. France is drawing a hard line between "still in crypto" and "effectively cashed out."

₿ Bitcoin Tops $83K While Stocks Keep Sliding

Bitcoin shook off an early dip to reclaim $83,000, even as Korean chip stocks tumbled and Nasdaq futures softened ahead of Thursday's US CPI print. The brief decoupling from traditional risk assets is notable — crypto usually leads equities lower, not the other way around. Whether this is genuine resilience or just a delayed reaction remains the question of the day.

⚖️ UK High Court Ruling Puts $5B Bitcoin Haul Closer to Crown

A UK High Court judge ruled that Chinese law governs fraud victims' claims to 61,000 BTC seized from Zhimin Qian — a decision that significantly weakens claimants' position and edges the UK government closer to keeping the haul outright.

Qian pleaded guilty to defrauding thousands of people in China. The Metropolitan Police seized the bitcoin during that investigation. Ownership remains legally undecided, but applying Chinese law is widely seen as a blow to victims hoping to recover funds through UK courts.

$5 billion in bitcoin, and the biggest winner so far might just be the British Treasury.

🏦 Sberbank Gets Crypto License, Eyes December Launch

Russia's largest bank has secured crypto exchange authorization and is targeting a December 1 rollout of BTC, ETH, and USDT trading for all clients. Sberbank is already running live tests inside its app ahead of the launch.

For context, this is a state-controlled institution serving tens of millions of Russians — not a crypto-native startup. When the biggest bank in a sanctions-hit economy starts offering Bitcoin and Tether trading, that's a signal worth noting.

⚖️ 9/11 Victims Stake Claim to Seized BTC from Mining Pool

Victims of the September 11 attacks have filed claims to Bitcoin seized by the US government from LuBian, a Chinese-Iranian mining pool. The case puts seized crypto assets at the intersection of terrorism financing law and victim compensation — a rare and legally complex scenario. No figures on the BTC amount or claim status were provided in the source.
