₿ Bitcoin Reserve Bill Heads to House Committee Vote

The House Financial Services Committee is set to vote Wednesday, September 16 at 10:00 a.m. ET on the American Reserve Modernization Act (ARMA) of 2026 — H.R. 8957 — a bipartisan bill that would establish a U.S. Bitcoin reserve. It was introduced by Republican Rep. Nick Begich and Democrat co-sponsor Rep. Jared Golden.

Bipartisan crypto legislation is still rare enough to raise eyebrows. Whether it clears committee is another matter entirely.

🚨 Authorized Helper Contract Drains $7.8M in Wallet Hack

A coding mistake in a user-authorized helper contract — not Safe itself — allowed a hacker to drain $7.8 million from a crypto wallet, according to security firms investigating the incident. The vulnerability wasn't in the core infrastructure; it was in the peripheral code the wallet owner had already approved.

A reminder that in crypto, your security is only as strong as every contract you've ever said yes to.

🚨 DeFi Bridge Minted 46B Fake BTC From $0.25

A hacker exploited two software bugs in the Symbiosis DeFi bridge to mint 46 billion unbacked syBTC tokens — more than 2,000 times Bitcoin's entire maximum supply — from just 25 cents worth of real BTC. Symbiosis puts preliminary losses at 9.97 BTC.

Infinite-mint exploits are a DeFi classic, but this one has a certain dark poetry to it: the hardest money ever created, counterfeited at a ratio of 2,000-to-one for a quarter.

⚖️ DOJ Wants $61M in Crypto Tied to Iran Oil Scheme

The US Justice Department has filed a civil forfeiture lawsuit targeting $61 million in cryptocurrency allegedly laundered through Binance accounts by two Chinese companies. Prosecutors claim the funds represent proceeds from Iranian oil sales — deals that would benefit Iran's government and military in violation of US sanctions.

Binance itself isn't accused of wrongdoing; it's the accounts on the platform that are in the crosshairs. Still, it's a reminder that "just using an exchange" doesn't make illicit flows invisible — especially when the DOJ is watching.

🚨 Six Jailed in Singapore's S$4.9M Crypto Poker Heist

Six Malaysian men have been convicted and sentenced in Singapore for a 2024 armed robbery targeting a luxury Bukit Timah property hosting high-stakes poker games. Victims were forced at gunpoint to transfer crypto to designated wallets — along with handing over cash and luxury goods — totalling S$4.9 million stolen. The two ringleaders each received 12-year sentences. S$3.21 million in assets remains unrecovered.

Turns out the house doesn't always win.

⚖️ UK Targets Crypto in £100B Money Laundering Crackdown

The UK Home Office is deploying $676M and 500 new officers to tackle money laundering, explicitly naming crypto alongside fintech and AI as key drivers of the threat. The National Crime Agency puts the scale of the problem at £100 billion a year — real money, real problem.

Crypto getting called out in a government enforcement announcement is never just background noise. Expect tighter scrutiny of UK-facing exchanges and wallets to follow.

🏦 Circle Launches Arc Blockchain, CEO Calls It Bigger Than USDC

Circle has unveiled Arc, its own blockchain purpose-built for payments, tokenized assets, and institutional finance. CEO Jeremy Allaire isn't being shy about the stakes — he's calling Arc "more consequential" than USDC itself, the stablecoin that put Circle on the map.

The launch lands as banks and payment giants are piling into the stablecoin market, making Circle's move to own the underlying infrastructure layer look less like ambition and more like necessity.

⚖️ Senate Kills Crypto Clarity Act — 10 Votes Short

The Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, backed by President Trump, failed its Senate procedural vote Tuesday, landing 10 votes below the 60-vote threshold needed to advance. Senators Jerry Moran, Susan Collins, and Josh Hawley were among those voting against.

The bill aimed to establish a regulatory framework for cryptocurrency markets. Its failure leaves the industry in the same grey-zone limbo it's been navigating for years — just with a shinier failed bill to show for it.

🚨 Revolut Hackers Demand $3M in Monero With 24-Hour Deadline

Hackers claiming responsibility for a Revolut data breach are demanding $3 million in Monero (XMR), threatening to sell stolen customer data to other criminals if the fintech firm doesn't pay within 24 hours. Revolut, for its part, says it never received any such demand — a classic he-said-she-said that does nothing to reassure affected customers.

Monero's privacy features make it the ransomware crowd's currency of choice, which is exactly why regulators keep eyeing it.

🏛 Kraken Parent Eyes First Regulated US Onchain Perps

Payward, Kraken's parent company, announced plans to launch the first regulated onchain perpetual futures markets for US clients, built on the Hyperliquid decentralized trading protocol. The move is still subject to regulatory approval — so "first" comes with an asterisk for now.

If it clears the hurdles, it would be a notable convergence of regulated exchange infrastructure and on-chain DeFi rails in a jurisdiction that hasn't exactly rolled out the welcome mat for either.

⚖️ SEC Greenlights Tokenized Stock Trading On-Chain

The SEC has approved a limited exemption — effective September 17 — allowing certain venues to trade tokenized NMS stocks through on-chain automated market makers and liquidity pools. It's a temporary, supervised experiment, not a full green light, but it's the clearest signal yet that U.S. regulators are willing to let traditional equities test the blockchain rails that crypto built.

⚖️ SEC Drops Innovation Exemption as Congress Drags Its Feet

The SEC has released its long-awaited "innovation exemption," framing the move as a way to modernize America's capital markets for the digital age — and pointedly noting it's stepping in where the Senate has so far failed to deliver crypto legislation.

Details on the exemption's exact scope remain thin in the source, but the framing is clear: regulators are tired of waiting for lawmakers to act. Whether this fills the legislative void or just papers over it is the real question.

🚨 Fake AI App Swaps Out Your Crypto Wallet Extensions

A malware strain dubbed "Needle Stealer" is hiding inside fake AI crypto software and silently replacing legitimate browser wallet extensions with malicious clones. Seven browser wallets are in the crosshairs — and the attackers are using signed Microsoft software to do it, making detection significantly harder.

Coinbase and MetaMask were reportedly not among the wallets breached. Cold comfort if your extension of choice made the other seven.

🚨 Crypto Trails Bust $7.1M Laundering Ring Tied to Murder-for-Hire

UAE and Swedish police arrested seven people after investigators traced cryptocurrency transactions through a cross-border laundering network that allegedly moved 70 million Swedish krona ($7.1 million). The crypto trail didn't just expose financial crime — it led straight to links with organized crime and contract killings.

Blockchain's "anonymity" strikes again: not quite as anonymous as the criminals hoped.

🚨 State Hackers Are Weaponizing Blockchains for Malware

Blockchain-based malware activity has surged 440% as North Korean and Iranian-linked threat actors increasingly use public chains to host command-and-control infrastructure. The appeal is obvious: on-chain instructions survive domain takedowns that would kill traditional malware servers.

AI is lowering the technical barrier, letting less sophisticated operators stand up persistent C2 systems on public blockchains. Defense is shifting accordingly — from blocking domains to monitoring wallets, smart contracts, and off-chain servers.

Turns out "immutable and censorship-resistant" cuts both ways.

₿ Bitcoin Surges 5.88% — Short Squeeze Fuels the Run

Bitcoin ripped 5.88% higher in a single session, blasting back toward its 2026 highs in a move driven in part by a fresh short squeeze. The charts confirm the momentum is real — but also flag that price has gotten ahead of itself.

🚨 North Korean WaterPlum Hackers Hit 7,000 Crypto Wallets

Japan's National Police Agency has tied North Korea-linked group WaterPlum to a sweeping malware campaign that infected over 30,000 devices across 100+ countries between December 2025 and July 2026. The haul: data from more than 7,000 crypto wallets compromised, and roughly $10.71 million transferred to wallets the group controls.

₿ Bitcoin Bounces to $81K as $603M Gets Liquidated

Bitcoin surged nearly 5% from the mid-$77,000s to around $81,015, torching over $603 million in crypto liquidations along the way. The move comes as oil prices ease and U.S. crypto policy continues to inch forward, with Bitcoin ETFs pulling in strong inflows adding fuel to the recovery.

The next test is a key resistance level — whether bulls can hold this ground or hand it back to the bears remains the real question.

₿ Bitcoin Eyes Breakout at $81.5K — One Wall Remains

Bitcoin has clawed back from its latest pullback and is pressing against the upper edge of its consolidation range — again. At around $81.5K, BTC is sitting at a level where a confirmed break could open the door to another leg higher, according to the analysis.

The word "confirmed" is doing a lot of heavy lifting here. Until price actually clears the boundary with conviction, this is the same ceiling the market has been staring at for a while. Consolidation isn't failure — but it's not a breakout either.

₿ $100B in BTC Derivatives, and Bulls Still Dominate

Bitcoin is hovering near $81,273 with over $56B in futures open interest and ~$42B in options exposure — a combined derivatives stack north of $100B. The notable detail: calls command 60.74% of options open interest, with the heaviest clustering around September strikes in the $70,000–$100,000+ range.

Traders aren't panicking at current prices — they're positioning for upside. Whether that conviction is well-placed or just expensive optimism remains the question the market will eventually answer.
