🚨 Loopring Security Breach: $5M Stolen

Loopring announced a hack on its Guardian 2FA service, resulting in $5 million worth of tokens stolen. The hacker bypassed Loopring's Official Guardian, allowing unauthorized wallet recoveries. Wallets with multiple or third-party guardians were not affected.

🔒 Loopring has suspended Guardian and 2FA operations and is working with security experts and law enforcement to investigate. Users are advised to appoint multiple guardians for enhanced security.

South Korea to Start Regulating NFTs

🇰🇷 According to Yonhap, the Financial Services Commission of South Korea (FSC) will regulate certain NFTs as regular cryptocurrencies if they no longer possess unique qualities.

South Korea's law on digital asset regulation will come into effect on July 19.

🕵️‍♂️ The $14M exploit was first spotted by Cyvers, an on-chain security firm, who alerted UwU Lend on X. Within an hour, the losses surpassed $20M, affecting multiple assets like WBTC and DAI, which were converted to ETH.

🔍 The hacker funded the attack via Tornado Cash, executing three malicious transactions in six minutes. Cyvers' founder, Meir Dolev, confirmed the incident is still under investigation.

💰 2024 is shaping up to surpass 2023 in crypto hacks, with $542.7M stolen in Q1 alone, a 42% increase from last year. Rising crypto valuations and easier targets like private key leaks are contributing to the surge.

Solana Blocks Validator Group for "Sandwich Attacks"

🚫 Solana has blocked a group of validators for participating in "sandwich attacks" on network users.

👀 Anyone caught engaging in such activities will be removed from the program, and any stake will be immediately and permanently deleted.

🥪 A "sandwich attack" is a common market manipulation tactic on DEX exchanges. Traders monitor the mempool for large orders that will likely raise the asset price. They buy the asset at a lower price, pushing their transaction through with a higher fee, then sell at a profit after the price increases. This process is automated and takes just seconds.

📢 UK Crypto Exchange Halts Trading After $22M Security Breach

🇬🇧 Lykke, a UK-based crypto exchange, has shut down trading on June 6 due to “unauthorised access” to its platform. The closure follows a hack that resulted in $22 M in suspicious outflows.

🦊 MetaMask developer Taylor Monahan confirmed that the stolen funds included half in Bitcoin and the rest in ETH, LTC, and BCH. Onchain data reveals the Ether was swapped for DAI stablecoin, while the Bitcoin was divided among several wallets to obscure the transaction trail.
