Robinhood announced the acquisition of the cryptocurrency exchange Bitstamp for $200 million in cash. The deal is expected to close in the first half of 2025.

🌐 Why? Robinhood aims to expand its presence in the global crypto market and attract institutional clients with new product offerings.

📈 Bitstamp — founded in 2011 in the UK, is one of the largest crypto exchanges in Europe. The exchange offers trading of over 85 cryptocurrencies, institutional lending, and staking. Bitstamp holds more than 50 licenses and regularly undergoes audits by one of the Big Four accounting firms.

Robinhood started offering cryptocurrency trading to clients in the EU since December.

Previously, Robinhood added support for $TON for European users, which led to the rapid growth of Toncoin and a new ATH.

Coinbase has released a new Smart Wallet that supports gas-free transactions. This is a web version that does not require installing an app or browser extension.

🌐 Network Support: The wallet supports 8 networks: Base, Ethereum, Optimism, Arbitrum, Polygon, Avalanche, BNB Chain, and Zora. The list will be expanded with other EVM protocols.

💸 Convenient Transfers: To transfer coins, there is no need to have a gas token in the wallet. Transfers are done automatically using the preferred asset, avoiding the "zero balance" error.

🛡 Security: Access keys are stored on the user's device. Backups are stored with providers like Apple, Google, and 1Password, or on YubiKeys. Password signatures are verified on the blockchain via an open-source smart contract. Coinbase does not store keys.

🚨 Loopring Security Breach: $5M Stolen

Loopring announced a hack on its Guardian 2FA service, resulting in $5 million worth of tokens stolen. The hacker bypassed Loopring's Official Guardian, allowing unauthorized wallet recoveries. Wallets with multiple or third-party guardians were not affected.

South Korea to Start Regulating NFTs
