MetroPCS / T-Mobile customer: Someone cloned my phone number gained access to my email and my Coinbase, and transfered all my BTC out of my account
Content: Just as title says.

TLDR: I noticed my phone had no signal, i asked family member for WiFi password, as soon as I connected i got warnings that my Coinbase / Microsoft passwords had changed, and that i had transfered about $400USD worth of BTC out of my acct, i then got the push notification and I tapped it to "disable account"

What are the chances of getting my money back once I regain access to it?

Long version:

We went to my mother is laws house, around 3:40pm (central) i noticed my phone had no signal at all

I restarted my phone and still nothing

I didn't think much of it since my phone always seems to run slow there

I asked for the WiFi password, connected, immediately i received emails saying my Microsoft password and Coinbase password have changed

I immediately change my Microsoft password first, then my Coinbase, i also got a push notification from the all (TLDR tap here to disable account) and I did that.

Apparently too late because I also see an email saying that i had transfered "xxxx" BTC to some account (I did not)

I asked my wife to call me / text me. Calls did not work, texts did not arrive either.

I then rushed to a MetroPCS store, employee was searching for my account using my phone number and nothing came up.

He then searched by my name and zip code from when I opened my account.

He found my account but only phone number listed was my wife's.

He then called into some support center , he pulled up history/activity and at around 3:35 there very several changed done, and my phone number had been transferred to an iPhone 6 (gross, android for life)

MetroPCS went ahead and cancelled that person's phone, i recovered my phone number and service.

I already started the account recovery through Coinbase let's see how that goes.

In my email under "deleted" i see a bunch of emails regarding Microsoft and Coinbase around 3:40pm, so this person worked FAST.

They also converted all my ADA to BTC and transfered all of it to some account.

What are the odds of me getting my money back, and catching this person, i would like to press charges. Bad thing about crypto is that it's hard to trace, so, there goes that...

I added my phone carrier cuz apparently TMobile got hacked, this was the first time i heard of this.

Satoshi Nakamoto knew in the future, corporations and governments would try to subvert Bitcoin! Now there are a lot of custodial banking services pretending to be and operate as a Bitcoin. Help us to disclose and spread the truth with Salvadoran talent for Salvadoran people.

"LN is totally defunct and super expensive to use, so the only viable option the brightest Bitcoin’s “gathering of developers” proposes is using custodial providers. No mention of another option… Which is on-chain scaling. Why is that? " -Nikita Zhavoronkov (lead dev of Blockchair.com)
