Pavel Durov was detained at the Paris airport after disembarking from his private jet, which arrived from Azerbaijan. The French judicial police issued a search warrant—French channel TF1 reports.

Law enforcement authorities suspect Durov of involvement in "drug trafficking, crimes against children, and fraud" due to Telegram's "lack of moderation and cooperation with law enforcement." The French search warrant for Durov "was valid only when he was within the country's territory"—TF1 reports.

Durov, who acquired French citizenship in 2021, is being held until a court hearing, where he is likely to be charged "with a range of crimes: terrorism, drugs, fraud, money laundering, and crimes against children's sexual integrity"—TF1 reports.

"Pavel Durov will be arrested, that's certain. He allowed countless offenses and crimes to occur on his platform, doing nothing to moderate or cooperate [with law enforcement]," a source close to the investigation told TF1.
