The founder of Binance, Changpeng Zhao, has been given a prison sentence of four months, as reported by Bloomberg on the 30th of April.
This is a significantly shorter term than the three-year imprisonment that prosecutors had proposed, which was over twice the suggested penalty for the related offenses. An article from Fortune also mentioned that Zhao will have to pay a personal fine of $50 million.
Despite this substantial fine, Zhao will still retain the vast majority of his estimated $43 billion fortune, making him the wealthiest inmate in the US penal system.
