It was a critical Zcash Orchard shielded-pool bug: in the worst case it could have allowed undetectable counterfeit ZEC inside the private pool. It was reportedly found on May 29, privately disclosed, and patched within days via emergency coordination; there’s no confirmed evidence of exploitation, no confirmed user fund loss, but the market sold off hard because privacy means you can’t fully prove the bug was never abused before the fix.

Still, I do believe that ultimately trust has been broken. Even if no blackhat used the exploit even once, since it's in the Orchard pool, we can't know for certain without a backdoor. If such a backdoor exists, then obviously trust is broken there too, so there's no way the team would acknowledge that they have a backdoor, even if they want to prove the exploit wasn't ever used.
