Job description and then about the company
Job scams is still a thing in crypto but few people talk about them.

Would like to shed some πŸ”¦ light on this topic.

πŸ“Š Chart below is the number of job ads we prevented from going live on CryptoJobsList over the last 12 months.

3 in June
7 in May
20 in April
...
49 in August 2023 !!! β€” was a crazy month with all the "EcoMetaLand" projects trying to scam people across the industry…

These numbers are not just the job ads we removed, but they didn't go live at all. Magic!

Now and then there are more prominent cases that require special attention and worthy of a blog post. Like this recruiter impersonating our friends at dYdX: https://cryptojobslist.com/blog/crypto-jobs-scams-101-dxdy-recruitment-scam-case-study

A few takeaways here for everyone:

✍️ For talent. If you are applying for jobs in crypto:

- never download any software, game or an app just for the job interview
- never run any custom code or scripts - especially for non-tech roles
- if you are a dev and given a test assignment - make sure it's coming from a legit repo and do audit the code for weird logic or ip addresses before running it
- be wary of job ads that ask you to enter your wallet address or use google docs
- if you see suspicious job ad or recruiter behavior - report it to us via support email or in our Telegram https://t.me/cryptojobslist_community

πŸ’Ό For companies. If you are a genuine employer:

- do not use google forms to process applications
- do not ask candidates for their wallet address
- do not try to move the conversation outside of the
platform you are hiring on - most platforms (including CryptoJobsList) would flag this and might penalize you
- post jobs from your official work email. And not from your gmail/protonmail
- for @CryptoJobsList customers - if you just posted a job ad and it's pending review, please be patient and understanding that the due diligence process is there for the safety of the talent community and for your brand's safety too

Real situation:

Someone submitted a job ad to CryptoJobsList on behalf of a sizable crypto project using a generic @gmail.com account.

This person can't email us from the official @domain email of the project.

They also can't get the admins to DM us on Twitter. And their DMs are closed. No one responding on Discord either.

Currently the job ad on hold to prevent potential impersonation scam. And we are waiting for confirmation from official sources before publishing it published.

What should we do?
A . Publish the job ad. Just trust the guy that claims to the be friend of the project.
B. Don't post unless project confirms from official channel

… and what if project never confirms?
