Trust Wallet was hacked during Christmas, leading to ~$7M in losses, with strong suspicion of an insider attack.
The Trust Wallet browser extension v2.68 was backdoored, mainly affecting desktop users. Users are advised to update immediately to v2.89. Changpeng Zhao (CZ) confirmed Binance will fully reimburse affected users.
SlowMist says the attacker prepared from Dec 8, planted the backdoor on Dec 22, and drained funds on Christmas. ZachXBT reports hundreds of victims, and experts believe only an insider could push a malicious extension update.
Action: Update Trust Wallet, scan your system for malware, and follow official refund updates.
