A Chinese government-led research body has rolled out a blockchain-as-a-service (BaaS) platform for identity and supply-chain tracking.

The new platform comes as the Chinese government is pushing for faster technological development in the country in a bid to stay competitive globally, and follows praise of blockchain technology by policy advisors at the country's biggest annual political event in early March.

Just last week, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology announced it has put developing standards for blockchain technology, such as distributed ledger and smart contracts, at the top of its 2018 agenda.

📰 Canadian Multinational Bank BMO Blocks Cryptocurrency Transactions.

Like taxi drivers attacking Uber or candle makers trying to block out the sun, another bank has taken a stand against bitcoin. BMO is apparently trying to protect its clients from themselves by taking away the freedom to decide what to do with their own money, like using cryptocurrency.

BMO will be blocking cryptocurrency merchant transactions. When clients try to complete any cryptocurrency transaction they will be presented with a simple message advising them that the “transaction cannot be completed.”
📰 Singapore's government is launching a challenge that will reward successful blockchain projects with funding.

According to the fact sheet for the challenge, the bureau is specifically targeting two categories of blockchain applications: "enterprise" and "transformation." Participants will have six months to develop either a minimum viable product or proof-of-concept. Winning projects will receive $38,000 for the enterprise section or $76,000 for the transformation category.

The agency further explains that it is looking for distributed ledge technology that can either streamline business operations or that more broadly envisions changes in social interactions, such as within public services.

The challenge aims to boost blockchain innovation as part of a wider goal of the digital transformation in the city state.

📰 Vitalik Buterin has penned a new proposal that could lay the foundation for resolving one of the ethereum network's biggest outstanding questions - whether a limit on the amount of ether that could be created would ever be set.

In a new ethereum improvement proposal (EIP) authored April 1, the cryptocurrency's creator issued his latest thoughts on the matter, posing to developers and software users that the maximum supply of ether, the network's cryptocurrency, be set at 120,204,432, "or exactly 2x the amount of ether" sold in its original sale in 2014 in a forthcoming software change.
#Bitcoin Daily Snapshot

Outlook: Daily RSI shows oversold conditions, so death cross may work as a "bear trap".
Daily chart shows RSI at bull reversal zone.

#BTC could bottom out if the ascending trendline (weekly chart) is defended.
BTC has breached the descending trendline, but only a clear break above $7,100 (channel resistance) would add credence to the bullish RSI divergence and allow a rally to $7,500-$7,600.
📰 Chinese petrochemical giant Sinochem Group has succeeded in utilizing blockchain technology to carry out a gasoline export.

The trial shipment was completed by the group's subsidiary, Sinochem Energy Technology, and traveled from the Chinese city of Quanzhou to Singapore.

The technology is seen as a way to simplify complex and lengthy transactions in energy trading and reduce costs by digitalising key documents. Digital bills of lading and smart contracts could streamline crude oil transactions, "optimizing 20-30 percent of financing costs."
