The Oxford 2 network upgrade was activated on Tezos mainnet.
Nomadic Labs announced the Oxford 2 protocol upgrade proposal for Tezos, following the previous Oxford protocol's failure to achieve a supermajority of affirmative votes. The revised Oxford 2 proposal, designed to improve staking user experience for bakers and further develop Smart Rollups and Timelocks, will be submitted to the Tezos governance mechanism. The proposal disables Adaptive Issuance and the new Staking mechanism, ensuring these features won't activate during its lifetime. It introduces changes to the Tezos Proof of Stake (PoS), including modifications to slashing penalties and an automated auto-staking mechanism for bakers to facilitate smooth transitions and manage over-delegation. The Oxford 2 proposal re-enables Timelocks with a new design to address security concerns. It also introduces private rollups, allowing for permissioned or permissionless deployments, as well as several other minor changes impacting bakers and indexers.
