Compound Head of Growth Bryan Colligan has shared a forum post requesting feedback around the potential design of the Staked COMP product, which involves the distribution of 30% of Compound's market reserves (currently ~$70 million in assets) to stakedCOMP holders. The following Fee Distribution Equation is proposed:
*Monthly fees distributed to stakedCOMP holders = (current reserves x 0.3)/12*
The proposal recommends that risk analysts assess the situation after 12 months to provide recommendations regarding the percentage of reserves to be distributed as stakedCOMP yields going forward. The product analysis can be found here.
The proposed design includes a claim function that allows users to claim their stream of the fee distribution, with fee reserves currently consisting of over 20 different tokens. The proposal suggests implementing a 28-day unlock period for stakedCOMP, and giving users the ability to immediately liquidate stakedCOMP with a 5% liquidation fee; instant liquidations will be provided by the DAO treasury, which will use stakedCOMP staking proceeds to buy back COMP. The design will enable delegates with a minimum voting participation rate of 80% to set a commission rate to earn a portion of the staking rewards on the stakedCOMP they are delegated. Furthermore, the proposal recommends building a wrapped version of stakedCOMP that continually claims rewards, buys back COMP, and stakes it.
It's suggested that the DAO maintains liquidity pools to enable swaps between COMP and stakedCOMP, in addition to pools where COMP is paired with collateral assets listed on Compound. Lastly, the proposal calls on the community to entertain partnership conversations related to the chain selection and cross-chain bridging for stakedCOMP, and to explore future fee generation techniques for stakedCOMP, including internalized liquidations, increased collateral and liquidation factors, increased liquidation penalties, increased target reserves, auction liquidations for searchers, two-way comets, a new v2 alt market, and the enforcement of higher utilization of dormant assets via taxes and rebates.
