💲 What's going on with USDC?

⚡️Let's face the truth. All stablecoins sooner or later meet the same fate. This is the fate of the moon. These assets are absolutely not protected by anything and will not be protected anywhere. They are convenient to use for transferring funds or for speculative trading, but cryptocurrency itself is a class of high-risk assets, even stablecoins.

🔥 And now, in order, what happened.

1️⃣Circle (USDC issuer) had $3.3B of cash out of $40B of collateral in Silicon Valley Bank, which could lead to losses of up to $200-350M.
2️⃣Coinbase and Binance have stopped the USDC -> USD and USDC -> BUSD exchange mechanism respectively.
3️⃣There is an imbalance in favor of USDC in the 3pool pool from Curve.
4️⃣Large ones, such as genesis, galaxy, blocktower, 0xsisyphus, are trying to get out of USDC.

🏦 And the bank where Circle held assets is now bankrupt. Silicon Valley Bank (SVB), declared bankrupt. It specialized in technology start-up financing and venture capital financing, had about $209 billion in assets and $175 billion in client deposits.

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) has seized control of the bank and will begin disbursing insured deposits on March 13, before proceeding to liquidate its assets and distribute the certificate pro rata to the remaining uninsured investors. The investment portfolio of the bank amounted to 54% and consisted mainly of long-term bonds, mainly mortgage bonds in the MBS segment.

⚡️The situation looks unfavorable for Circle, especially in light of the possible onslaught of arbitrageurs on Monday and the flow of $10-15B. It is not yet clear if Circle can survive this situation, most likely not.
