Chennai has legacy. Mumbai has history. Eden Gardens has passion. Bengaluru has electricity. Hyderabad, Lucknow, and even Mullanpur are rising with world-class infrastructure.

So why are they always overlooked when it matters most?

Finals aren’t just about capacity they’re about emotion, legacy, fairness. If the league is truly for everyone, the final should be too.

Tbh, people always saw Rohit Sharma as a white-ball giant in his early days. But for me, his real transformation came when he was promoted to open in Tests back in 2019. That move literally gave his red-ball career a new life.

I genuinely feel like batting at 5 or 6 never suited him; he’d get 20s or 30s and throw it away. He wasn’t getting bored, but maybe just not in his zone.

And then the idea struck; why not use him like in ODIs? Let him open, give him the new ball challenge, and let him have time to settle and attack. After all, in white-ball cricket, Rohit is a beast when he faces more balls.

I think that 2019 World Cup (where he smashed 5 centuries and ended up with 648 runs) was a major confidence booster. That form was too good to ignore. He was seeing the ball like a football. So after that, the management pushed him up the order in Tests and bang; he responded with a hundred in his very first innings as an opener vs South Africa. The rest is history.

Since then, 9 of his 12 Test hundreds have come as an opener. And not just on flat tracks; he was brilliant in England too, where he changed his game, played with soft hands, and learned to leave deliveries.

He literally went from “inconsistent middle-order batter” to “Test match match-winner” and that’s what elite mentality looks like.

For me, this is one of the most underrated turnarounds in Indian cricket.
