FREELANCING TIP

Don’t give a price before understanding the project.

A client says:

“How much for a logo?”

And we used to immediately say:
"ይሄን ያህል"

That’s a mistake.

ዋጋ ከመስጠታቹ በፊት ጠይቁ፡

→ What exactly do they need?
→ Is it just a logo or a complete identity?
→ Where will the brand be used?
→ How many deliverables are needed?
→ What is the deadline?
→ Do they need strategy, research, or just execution?
→ How many revisions are expected?

ምክንያቱም “I need a logo” ብሎ የመጣ client ካልተነጋገራቹ details ሙሉዉን የbranding project በLogo ዋጋ ሊያሰራቹ ይችላል::

Don’t price the request. Price the actual scope of work.

Freelancing ስትጀምሩ take every job you get.

Logo? ስሩት።
Video editing? ስሩት።
Social media? ስሩት።
Random design ከሌሊቱ 11 ሰዓት? Unfortunately… እሱንም ስሩት።

ምክንያቱም ስትጀምሩ የምትፈልጉት experience ነው፣ ገንዘብ ነው፣ clients ናቸው፣ portfolio ነው።

በዚህ stage
“I only want to work on projects I'm passionate about”
ማለት በጣም ያምራል…

ነገር ግን እንደ ማንም ሰው you have bills to pay።

ነገር ግን እያደጋቹ ስትመጡ፣ እና freelancing የሚያስተዳርራቹ ደረጃ ላይ ስትደርሱ፣ every project መቀበል አያስፈልጋቹም።

At that point, start asking:

→ በዚህ ስራ ጎበዝ ነኝ?
→ በእውነት ይህንን ስራ እወደዋለሁ?
→ ይህ project እኔ እንድታወቅበት ከምፈልገው work ጋር ይጣጣማል ወይ?
→ Will this help me grow?
→ ይህን አይነት client ወደፊት ብዙ ማግኘት እፈልጋለሁ ወይ?

ምክንያቱም freelancing ማለት more clients ማግኘት ብቻ አይደለም።

Eventually, it's about **getting the right clients.

ስትጀምሩ የሚመጣውን ስራ ሁሉ ተቀበሉ።
Experience አግኙ።
Portfolio ገንቡ።
Skill አሳድጉ።
Income ፍጠሩ።

ከዚያ ግን…

survival mode ውስጥ ለዘላለም አትቆዩ።

Once you've built enough stability,
start choosing the work you actually want to do.

Client እንዲህ አላችሁ:

“I’ll get back to you.”

እና እናንተ:

“Okay, no problem.”

ከዛ 1 ቀን…

2 ቀን…

1 week…

ምንም ምላሽ የለም

እናንተ ግን መልዕክት ለመላክ ትፈራላችሁ።

“Maybe I’m disturbing them.” ብላቹ ታስባላቹ

አይደለም።

You’re not disturbing them. You’re following up.

እንደ beginner ስትሆኑ ብዙ ጊዜ client እንዳይሄድ ብላችሁ ምንም ነገር ለመጠየቅ ትፈራላችሁ።

ነገር ግን freelancingን business አድርጋችሁ ስትመለከቱ፣ አንድ ነገር ትረዳላችሁ።

Following up is part of the job.

Client proposal አይቶ reply ካልሰጠ:

Follow up.

Client project ላይ decision ሳይሰጥ ሲቀር:

Follow up.

Invoice ላክታችሁ payment ካልመጣ:

Follow up.

እና follow-up ማለት:

“Please sir, any update?”

ብሎ መለመን አይደለም።

Professional ሁኑ።

“Hi, just following up on the proposal I sent earlier. Let me know if you have any questions or if you'd like to move forward.”

That's it.

Client አንዳንዴ busy ነው።

አንዳንዴ ጊዜ ደግሞ ይረሱታ።

አንዳንዴ መልዕክቱን አይቶ መመለስ ዘንግቶታል።

Silence doesn't always mean rejection.


ስለዚህ እንደ freelancer:

Don't chase clients.
But don't disappear either.

Follow up professionally.

Sometimes the difference between “I got the client” and “I lost the client” is just one follow-up message.
