In Burning Mouth Syndrome, a daughter revisits fragments of her life, moving between everyday memories and poetic reflection. Through shifting temporalities, physical and imagined spaces, an intimate landscape unfolds—exploring a father-daughter relationship, dual culture, exile, absence, and the things that remain unspoken.

Their practices draw deeply from tradition while opening space for new conversations about the body, belonging, and the stories we carry with us.
Over the coming weeks, Venghour and Puthik will be developing new work through the residency, using the Studio as a space for research, experimentation, and artistic exchange. We look forward to supporting their creative process and sharing moments of that journey with our community.

Designer Lab Update: Working with Producers
A question that came up during our Application Workshop was whether designers can work with producers outside of Friends-International.
Yes! Designers are welcome to work with outside producers when their project requires materials, techniques, or services that are not available through Friends-International—for example, woodworking or other specialized production.
When the production you need is available through Friends-International, such as tailoring or screen printing, we encourage you to work with the FI production teams. This is an important part of the Designer Lab: your project not only supports your own creative development, but also helps create income and opportunities for FI producers to build their skills through new collaborations.
We want you to have the flexibility to make your ideas possible, while creating opportunities for everyone involved to grow.
