If you really immersed yourself in ages rather than individuals, you'd see who they are really talking to and about. So for instance knowing Goethe, and Schiller and Fichte and the Romantics and Marx and the Free Ones generally, the new theories of christian historicism, the 18th century attempts by mainly clerical German philologists to reinterpret Plato as a Lutheran, if you dive into this the faults and foibles of the best German thinkers of the latter half of the 19th century become extremely apparent as milieu problems.

I came by this honestly, as a lifelong Germanophile I lived the intellectual history of that country over again from a young age, and became a conservative, a Nietzschean, a reactionary, then a national socialist (confirming the sonderweg hypothesis maybe) and when the above became clear to me, it was like a bolt of lightning, the seedbed of German ideas was totally rotten, it had to be thrown out, there could be nothing perfect grown in that soil. Hellenism pure and simple was the real solution, but an honest tyranny of Greece, not a tyranny of 18th century ideas upon Greece.

Man in his infinite pretense demands the world conform to the lies he tells himself, for secret reasons of his heart: children are atheists, Satan is behind this beautiful world, infinitely varied are the lies with which the intellectual mutilates the spiritual landscape.

We must reject it all completely and return to a radical animism in my opinion. And this is less a question of "deciding to believe" than it is of believers, the chosen, sensitive souls, pouring water on the sleeping faces of our contemporaries and demanding they admit the evidence of their eyes and ears and the electric feeling in their spines when they contemplate the awful glory of the gods.

You hear it a lot, and Counter-Currents wholeheartedly agrees. America needs to have an honest conversation about race. So we were delighted to see Africa Addio, starring Will Smith, win Best Documentary last night.

It is hard to imagine a timelier moment to approach friends and neighbors about this sensitive topic. Do not waste the chance. And since kids must also understand the role of racial inequality in America, be sure to watch this one with the entire family.
