On tirades against China, silence towards the US

The past few days saw an intense word war erupting between certain politicians and Philippine government officials and a Chinese embassy officer. This word war was ignited by Commodore Jay Tarriela, spokesperson of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) for the West Philippine Sea, who made use of mock images that ridiculed Chinese leader Xi Jinping, provoking a strong reaction from Chinese officials.
Guo Wei, deputy spokesperson of the Chinese embassy in Manila, questioned whether Tarriela, a uniformed officer of the Philippine government, is allowed to attack a foreign leader, and whether this is representative of Philippine diplomatic policy. The Chinese official denounced Tarriela for political provocation and violation of China's political dignity, and, stepping on the bounds of diplomatic relations, demanded that he be meted disciplinary measures.
Senators led by Risa Hontiveros, pounced on the statements of China's official, denouncing Guo as "very undiplomatic" and a "bad guest." She initiated a resolution signed by 15 senators denouncing China, further heightening tensions. Proposals were also laid out in the Senate to declare the Chinese official as persona non grata which all the more exacerbated the situation.

Tarriela's inflammatory actions which sparked the war of words were made on January 14, right before the scheduled January 16 Philippine-China Bilateral Consultation Mechanism (BCM) on the South China Sea, a diplomatic forum in Xiamen, China, overshadowing the positive efforts at diplomacy to settle maritime disputes between the two countries. It also came a few weeks after cooperation between the the PCG and the Chinese Coast Guard (CCG) in the rescue of a Filipino fisherman.
Like all his previous statement, Tarriela's actions were clearly calculated to provoke China. Like his counterparts in the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Tarriela regards China with open antagonism, in complete disregard of diplomatic ties.
Tarriela is a mouthpiece of US policy. Endorsed by the US embassy, he underwent a training program in the East-West Center in Washington in 2021. Shortly thereafter, in early 2023, he was assigned to serve as spokesperson of the PCG on West Philippine Sea concerns, with the task of portraying China as an aggressor in the South China Sea, and divert attention away from US build-up of military presence in the South China Sea. It is highly hypocritical for the Senate, especially Amboy Senator Hontiveros—who is seeking to curry favor with the US to advance her 2028 ambitions—as well as some rabid American stooges in the House of Representatives, to act like guardians of Philippine sovereignty against foreign interference. Just last January 15, the Senate ratified the Philippine-Japan Acquisition and Cross-Servicing Agreement (ACSA), following its ratification of the Reciprocal Access Agreement (RAA) in 2024. Both these agreements are brazen violations of Philippine sovereignty, giving the Japanese military greater access to Philippine ports, allowing the country to be used in the US "first island strategy" to contain China.

3. The escalation of anti-Chinese tirades by Philippine officials and politicians coincides with a period of growing international isolation for US imperialism. Its so-called "rules-based order" is now thoroughly exposed as empty rhetoric. This comes after its military aggression in Venezuela and abduction of its president Nicolas Maduro.
This was followed by declarations of taking over Greenland, threats against Mexico, Colombia, Panama, increased aggression against Cuba, and subversive activities in Iran accompanied by threats of an invasion, have roused global indignation, including among its traditional allies. Trump's unilateral pronouncements and incessant bullying have isolated the US even from its allies in Europe and North America, who, ironically, have responded by strengthening their ties with China.
The US government under the fascist madman Trump is rushing to seize control of key sources of raw materials around the world. To free itself of any impediment, the US government is undermining the United Nations through committee withdrawals and funding denial. It is securing its interests in the Gaza Strip by establishing the so-called Board of Peace. In the US, there are rising protests by the American people against the US government's fascist clampdown against migrants.
The escalation of propaganda attacks against China by American stooges in the Philippines, invoking defense of Philippine sovereignty, have the effect of deflecting the Filipino people's attention from mounting global outrage against US imperialism. By depicting China as a threat to Philippine sovereignty, they hope to perpetuate the false American narrative that US military presence is needed to protect the country.
In fact, it is the growing threat of full-scale US military aggression in Asia, in collaboration with junior imperialist partners Japan and Australia, that the Philippines need to protect itself from. The Filipino people must stand firm for national sovereignty and demand that the country be free from the presence of all foreign military troops. With the US expansion of its military presence in the country, the greater the likelihood that the Philippines will be dragged into a devastating war that will serve only US hegemonic interests. The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) expresses maximum outrage against the imperialist US government of fascist madman Donald Trump and the Zionist state of Israel of equally fascist Benjamin Netanyahu in carrying out on February 28 massive missile attacks against Iran.
The brazen military assault was unprovoked and treacherously carried out amid nuclear negotiations. Along with all revolutionary forces in the Philippines, the Party expresses solidarity with the freedom-loving people of Iran in vehemently condemning the missile attacks which are a gross assault on Iran's sovereignty and against universally accepted international laws.
Massive strikes were carried out against Iran's seat of government which assassinated the country's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and other key leaders of the government. Trump carried out the murder of Khamenei on the mistaken belief that this will force the Iranian people to accept US military, economic and political dictates and give up Iran's sovereignty. The killings, instead, are bound to further unite the Iranian people who have long resisted imperialist subjugation.
We hold Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu accountable for the great number of deaths caused by the massive strikes which were carried out on their orders. Initial reports indicate that the massive strikes resulted in the deaths of more than 200 people, including 148 people, mostly schoolgirls, after missiles struck their primary school in the coastal city of Minab. More are feared dead.
In the face of the US and Israeli military assault against its sovereignty, Iran has all the right to defend itself by carrying out counterstrikes against Israeli military facilities and US military bases and aircraft carriers, especially in the Middle East. The escalation of armed conflicts in the region is a direct result of US imperialist intervention and military hegemonism.
The joint military assault clearly aims to force the people of Iran to bow to US imperialist demands for them to give up their sovereignty, and their national control of oil and other mineral resources. Because Iran has asserted its national sovereignty and supported other forces who resist American imperialism, the US has long aimed to subdue the country in order to establish its unchallenged hegemony in the Middle East.

This is the latest act of military aggression by the US imperialists. Facing a prolonged economic crisis and heightening competition, the US monopoly capitalists are pushing to seize control of more sources of oil and critical minerals, as well as global spheres to dump their surplus commodities. It is within the same context that, less than two months ago, the US imperialists carried out an assault against Venezuela and abducted its leader Nicolas Maduro along with wife Cilia Flores, in an barefaced attempt to take control of the country's oil resources.
This was followed by Trump's orders for the US military forces to seize oil tankers from Venezuela, heightened economic sanctions and attempts to subvert Cuba, threats against Mexico, Colombia and other Latin American countries who oppose Trump's revival of the Monroe Doctrine, open declarations of seizing Greenland, undermining of the United Nations and other acts of unilateralism. All these expose the utter hypocrisy of the so-called "rules-based order." The US continues to connive with Israel to impose its hegemonic aims against the Palestinian people in Gaza.
The US continues to set its crosshairs in Asia, with unabated attempts to incite Taiwan to declare independence, and using the Philippines to stockpile weapons, station American troops, and mount war exercises, all directed to heighten military tensions with China.
The Party calls on the Filipino people, including migrant workers in the Middle East, to stand with the people of Iran as they resist US military assaults, and fight to defend their sovereignty against attempts to subjugate them. We urge all patriotic and anti-imperialist forces to stand firm to oppose US military aggression around the world, and stop it from waging more wars in the name of American interests.
In the face of threats of being dragged into a US-instigated war, there is great urgency for the Filipino people to build a broad united front against US war provocations, and heighten their demand for the US and Philippine governments to dismantle all US military bases and facilities in the Philippines, remove US missiles and other weapons of war stockpiled in secret locations in the country, pull out all US troops in the country, and withdraw US naval presence in the West Philippine Sea and the South China Sea. They must amplify their demand to abrogate the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA), the Visiting Forces Agreement (VFA), the Mutual Defense Treaty (MDT) and all lopsided military treaties with the US and push for an independent foreign policy.
They must build international solidarity with the people of South Korea and Japan where people are also demanding that they be liberated from American military presence, as well as with peoples around the world demanding an end to the US war machine.
There is great urgency for the working class and revolutionary proletariat across the world to unite and lead all democratic and anti-imperialist forces in fighting imperialism and its threats of war. Freedom for Comrade Booker Ngesa Omole! End the fascist attacks against the Kenyan people!

The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) joins broad democratic forces in Kenya and the international community in vehemently condemning the fascist police and military forces of the US-backed Ruto regime in Kenya for the abduction, torture, and illegal detention of Comrade Booker Ngesa Omole, General Secretary of the Communist Party Marxist-Kenya (CPM-K).
On the evening of February 23, Comrade Omole was violently taken from his home in Isiolo town and detained at Mlolongo Police Station without any formal charges. He was tortured and beaten severely. He is being held incommunicado, denied access to his chosen lawyer, medical care, and visits from family and friends. The CPP stands firmly with Comrade Omole and fully supports the CPM-K and the Kenyan people in demanding his immediate and unconditional release. We are confident that the CPM-K and the Kenyan people will not succumb to fear in the face of the Ruto regime's brutality.
We are in solidarity with the CPM-K in its bold declaration: "Organize. Speak out. Mobilize. Defend our comrades. Defend democratic rights. Defend the revolution. No prison can contain the will of the people. No baton can beat down the truth. No regime can stop the march of history. The struggle continues. The people shall win."

Condemn the arrest of NDFP peace consultant for Cordillera Gabriel Kennedy Bangibang and companions

The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) strongly condemns the Marcos regime and its military and police forces for the unlawful arrest of National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) peace consultant for Cordillera Gabriel Kennedy Bangibang and nine others last March 11. They were forcibly taken in simultaneous raids in Tarlac City and Quezon City, and maliciously tagged as members Ilocos-Cordillera Regional Committee.
Joint military and police elements raided the place where Bangibang was staying in Barangay Baras-Baras, Tarlac City. Six others were also arrested. During the operation, the victims were physically and verbally assaulted—struck on the head, beaten on the face and stomach, and slammed to the ground. They now face fabricated charges of illegal possession of firearms and explosives, in addition to trumped-up cases of murder, attempted murder, and qualified trafficking.
Bangibang served as an NDFP peace consultant during the 2016 negotiations with the Philippine government. He provided the NDFP Negotiating Panel with crucial insights into the situation of the Cordilleran and other national minority communities, helping ensure that their voices and interests were genuinely represented in the peace process.
Bangibang's arrest is a blatant violation of the Joint Agreement on Safety and Immunity Guarantees (JASIG), which protects peace negotiators and personnel from reprisal. This brazen disregard for existing peace accords further aggravates efforts to revive talks that have remained stalled since the signing of the Oslo Joint Statement in November 2023. (1/2)

CPP: Majority of NPA units advance, even as some suffer setbacks last year

On the occasion of the 57th anniversary of the New People’s Army (NPA), the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) reported that majority of NPA units across the country are steadily advancing. The Party's Central Committee stated that since launching a rectification movement in late 2023, the NPA's positive developments have outweighed the setbacks.
The CPP acknowledged that while some units have faced losses, the majority have successfully preserved their strength, expanded their operational areas, broadened their mass base, recruited new Red fighters, and executed various tactical offensives and guerrilla actions.
A CPP Negros Island Regional Committee report highlighted this trend, noting that units under the Negros Island Regional Operational Command (Apolinario Gatmaitan Command) continue to operate across five guerrilla fronts. Over the past year, these units have consolidated existing mass organizations and recovered territories previously subjected to intense militarization.
As a result of these efforts, the revolutionary movement in Negros Island recorded a 21% increase in its mass base. Additionally, between March 2025 and the present, NPA units launched 56 military actions of varying scales, successfully seizing 16 firearms, ammunition, and other war materiel.
"Step by step, adjustments are being made in the mode or method of guerrilla methods, to ensure the tight bond with the masses while raising our ability to evade and outmaneuver the enemy's heavy presence," the CPP Central Committee said. The leadership declared that the NPA is firmly regaining its strength and anticipates a resurgence in the coming period.
The Party also dismissed President Marcos' declaration from last year that there are "no more guerrilla groups" in the country as mere bluster. "Another year has passed without them achieving their stated goal. In various parts of the country, NPA guerrilla units continue to fight," the Central Committee asserted.
The Party further emphasized that the Marcos policies are inadvertently driving more people, particularly the youth, toward the movement. The CPP reported a rise in the number of young recruits from both urban and rural areas responding to the call to support and join the people's army. "The NPA is continuously being infused with new blood, renewing its strength to advance the armed struggle," the statement concluded. #

The Communist Party of the Philippines strongly condemns the US military for using civilian vessels and facilities to move and preposition its military vehicles and equipment in Cagayan de Oro, and the subsequent transfer of those vehicles from the city in northern Mindanao to Subic Bay in Zambales using commercial ro-ro ships.
It was reported that the US military brought Humvee military vehicles into the city during the war games conducted last March. Commercial marine vessels were then contracted by the US military to move these vehicles to Luzon to be used in Balikatan exercises scheduled to take place this month.
It is a slap on the face of the people of Cagayan de Oro that war matériel were transported to their city without their knowledge, even after various groups and local government officials expressed sentiments against the presence of US soldiers in their city, who were seen checking in at local hotels.
The transport of American war equipment in the country, and the use of commercial facilities, were done in outright contempt of Philippine sovereignty.
The US military's use of civilian vehicles deliberately blurs the distinction between civilian and military, which turn civilians and civilian property into military targets. This is a clear violation of the principle of protection of civilians in military conflicts.
The intent of US military is clear. It claims the use of civilian ships is being done at "peacetime" but is clearly a "rehearsal" for wartime, which will expose civilians to acts of reprisal by the US military adversaries.
The Party condemns the 4th ID for colluding with the US military in deceiving the Filipino people, particularly the residents of Cagayan de Oro. It chose to put to risk the people in the city and nearby areas than disobey the orders of their American masters.

The fog of war hangs thick over Toboso as the Marcos fascist regime and its Armed Forces of the Philippines scramble to control the narrative and spread disinformation. The facts surrounding the supposed encounters that took place Sunday morning remain unclear. Hundred of people across villages and communities have been forced out of their homes as the fascists impose full military control over the town.
The fascist AFP vilify the people's fallen heroes without end as "terrorists" and "criminals" in their desperation to justify their merciless war of suppression and to bury the gross abuses they inflict on the people.
The people of Toboso would have none of the lies of the AFP. They are the first to attest how dearly the Red fighters of the NPA served the people in their daily toil and in their struggle to defend their welfare and rights. They regard the NPA fighters as their own sons and daughters, who render selfless service as doctors, dentists, farmhands, and teachers to their children.

The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) vigorously condemns the Marcos regime for its reported plan to establish a 1,600-hectare Economic Security Zone, and to grant the United States blanket extra-territorial rights over this so-called industrial hub under the so-called Luzon Economic Corridor. The Party calls on the Filipino people to unite and take action to resist this gross sell-out and act of betrayal of Philippine sovereignty.
Marcos must be held to account for this brazen act of subservience to US imperialists. The puppet regime is practically ceding part of the country under the guise of an "economic security zone" that will be operated under US common laws with diplomatic-style protection. The initial lease will be for two years, during which it will operate tax free, and is renewable for 99 years.
This "economic zone" will practically be American territory in Luzon for a century. Having ceded political and legal authority over this land, the Philippines will not be able to stop the US from using this land for military production, stockpiling or other non-economic purposes.
Reports indicate that this will be established on public land at the former US Clark Air Base in Pampanga, covering much of the ancestral land of the Aetas. The plan to set up this US zone will likely force them out of what is left of their ancestral land, as well as dispossess other peasant communities of their homes and farms, both within and in surrounding areas. Marcos haste to cede vast tracts of land to American capitalists starkly contrasts to how millions of peasants remain landless despite decades of labor and amortization payments.
The project will give the US greater control of the country's key resources. The declared aim of this project is for the US to secure supply chains for critical minerals and other resources by moving processing of Philippine exports away from China, under its so-called Pax Silica initiative. The undeclared aim of the US is to have exclusive control of the Philippines as part of its imperialist sphere of influence and control.
This planned economic zone takes away the country's ability to exercise an independent foreign policy. It nullifies Philippine national interest, and tethers Philippine foreign policy more tightly to the US, aligning the country with US national interests, and pitting Filipinos against American adversaries, especially China. It pulls the Philippines deeper into the rising spiral of imperialist conflicts.
The project is being touted as an "industrial hub," but has nothing to do with developing the local economy. It will only tie the country down further as a supplier of raw materials and cheap labor. The planned US economic zone to extract and process crucial minerals is bound to accelerate the destruction of the country's environment, as American companies seek to extract greater amounts of nickel, copper and other minerals critical for the production of semiconductors that serve as crucial components of US jet fighters, drones, missiles and other modern armaments for military aggression (such as the bombing of Iran and assault on Venezuela), as well as industrial machinery and commercial commodities.
Under its full control, the US boasts that the economic zone will fully utilize "artificial intelligence" to reduce the need for workers. The Philippine Revolution Web Central (https://philippinerevolution.nu/), the official digital portal of the Communist Party of the Philippines, has been under a relentless and large-scale Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack since 6:15 p.m. yesterday, April 22.
We hold the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the National Task Force-Elcac as directly responsible for this information sabotage. Likely aided by the cyber-warfare units of the US military, they are the only agencies capable and motivated to carry out attacks of such scale.
The attack was carried out at the precise time that the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) is being exposed for the recent carnage perpetrated by the 79th Infantry Battalion in Toboso, Negros Occidental last April 19.
The claims of military officers that 19 Red fighters of the New People's Army were killed in a firefight are being exposed as a blatant lie. Independent investigations have revealed that civilians, including a reknowned community journalist, a prominent student leader, peasant organizers, and local residents were among the victims of the massacre.
Alongside this attack, our social media channels are being bombarded by coordinated troll networks spewing vitriol to drown out voices critical of the military. The same troll networks can also be observed attacking social media pages and accounts of progressive groups and individuals, as well as friends and families of the victims of the Toboso massacre.

We condemn in the strongest terms possible the Armed Forces of the Philippines, particularly the 79th Infantry Battalion, for the indisriminate and inordinate killing of 19 people, both Red fighters of the New People's Army, and unarmed individuals in Barangay Salamanca in Toboso town, Negros Occidental last April 19.
We honor the squad of ten Red fighters of the NPA who fought the fascists to their last breath. They are:
1. Roger Fabillar (Ka Tapang), who served as NPA commander of the Northern Negros Front
2. Sonny Boy Caramihan, 28, from Barangay Bagonbon, San Carlos City;
3. Rene Villarin Sr, 58, Barangay Marcelo, Calatrava, squad leader;
4. Pedro Bonghanoy, medical officer, Barangay Libertad, Escalante City;
5. Arnel Javoc, 32, from Barangay Lalong, Calatrava;
6. Joros Caramihan y Ramos, 18, from Don Salvador Benedicto;
7. Maria Clarita Branzuel Blanco (Ka Sanim/Pat), Political Instructor; and
8. Genevieve Balora (Ka Raia), from Bacolod City, district Party cadre

We commiserate with the loved ones and comrades of the fallen Red fighters of the NPA. Their deaths weigh heavily on our hearts. As revolutionary warriors, they all selflessly served the Filipino people, especially the oppressed and exploited peasants and farmworkers of Negros. They were deeply loved by the masses. Defying the military clampdown on their communities, people of Toboso and Calatrava lined up in long convoys to bring their beloved Red fighters to their final resting place, by way of expressing their high respects and deep gratitude.
The New People's Army suffered a tactical defeat that fateful day, but remains clear-sighted and determined to advance along the revolutionary path towards strategic victory. The valiant stand and heroism of its Red fighters in Toboso inspire the oppressed masses to rise and resist through armed revolution. The blood spilt by the fallen warriors during their final battle nurtures the ground for the people's war, from which will spring forth even more Red fighters of the New People's Army. (1/3)
