Ang Bayan Interview with the MLKP T/K and TKP-ML on the recent NATO summit in Türkiye

August 7, 2026

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) held its annual summit from July 7-8 in Ankara, Türkiye (Turkey). It is the 36th NATO summit and the second hosted by Türkiye following the 2004 summit in Istanbul. It produced a 6-point Ankara Summit Declaration which further pushed the military and aggressive agenda of NATO and US imperialism under Trump.

The Ankara summit was attended by 32 leaders of its member states including US Pres. Donald Trump. It was also attended by leaders of non-NATO member nations and governments including the European Union, Japan, South Korea, Kuwait, Syria and Ukraine.

The summit was met with big and small demonstrations and protests across Türkiye and parts of Kurdistan. In line with the peoples' efforts to denounce the Ankara Summit and the US-NATO's agenda amid heightening tensions worldwide caused by the US wars of aggression, the article War provocation and aggression top agenda of NATO Summit 2026 was published in Ang Bayan August 7, 2026. Below is the full interview conducted by AB Editors with the Marxist Leninist Communisty Party (MLKP)-Turkey/Kurdistan and the Communist Party of Turkey Marxist-Leninist (TKP-ML) for the article.

Ang Bayan Interview with the Freedom Road Socialist Organization (FRSO) on organizing and mobilizing the American working class and people

July 21, 2026

The lives and livelihood of the American people is plunging deeper into crisis. The unemployment rate was highest in November 2025 since 2021, even in manipulated US data. The country’s poverty rate was 10.6% in 2024. Americans suffer further as the US reactionary state under Donald Trump increasingly turns toward fascism. At the same time, US imperialism is relentlessly pursuing wars of aggression and interventionism that drains the country's coffers.

Under Trump’s leadership, large American corporations in finance, commerce, oil, automobile manufacturing, arms, pharmaceuticals, electronics and other sectors are profiting immensely. Meanwhile, he enforces ultra-right, racist, fascist, anti-democratic, anti-immigrant, anti-women, anti-LGBT and ultra-nationalist policies and measures.

Deepening economic and political crisis prompt the American people to unite and fight back for their rights and welfare. One political force leading the forging of the class struggle of the American people is the Freedom Road Socialist Organization (FRSO).

The FRSO is a national organization of revolutionaries advancing socialism in the US. It fights for social justice for workers, and oppressed peoples and nationalities. The group is also active in struggles for immigrant rights, youth-student movements and anti-war campaigns. It strengthens the goal of establishing a communist party guided by Marxism-Leninism.

In May, FRSO successfully held its 10th Congress at a critical time in the US and worldwide. The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) conveyed its greetings to the FRSO congress. To learn from the resistance of the American people led by the FRSO, the article Forging the class struggle of the American people was published in Ang Bayan July 21, 2026. Below is the full interview conducted by AB Editors with the FRSO for the article.

August is marked as the month commemorating international humanitarian law (IHL), the set of rules governing wars to ensure the rights of those involved and not involved in armed confrontations. It was created mainly to safeguard the welfare of civilians amid armed conflicts.

Central to its principles are the distinction between combatants and non-combatants, the use of appropriate force according to proportionality, the determination of who and what are legitimate targets, protection against killing, injury, and harm to those not involved in combat, assurance of minimal harm to civilians and their communities, and more.

The armed forces of the Government of the Republic of the Philippines (GRP) violate these principles in their war against the New People’s Army. In the last 10 years alone, under the former Duterte regime and the current Marcos regime, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) have deliberately killed dozens of unarmed revolutionaries incapable of fighting back. Many have been arrested, tortured, and charged with fabricated criminal cases. Some women fighters have been captured and taken as hostages—some with their infants—to force the surrender of their fellow fighter-husbands. Long is also the list of civilians killed and falsely portrayed as combatants, cases of bombing and terrorism of civilian communities, forced surrenders, and the use of civilians in combat operations as guides or servants.

We are sharing a special report published in Ang Bayan on August 12, 2025 focusing on the war crimes of the US-Marcos regime.
