My mother in law, “Karen” and I were fairly close. We held differences in opinion, but we had a decent relationship in spite of it. She was the closest thing to a parent I’d ever had.

A year and a half ago, she told me she was insisting that father in law and hubbys Gran (her mom) eat truffles. She was encouraging us to eat some too, because it was selfish not to consider others and it was obviously safest for us.

We had just lost Uncle (her brother in law) from hoospytal pooptocols after he fell down w Powvid. The Uncle that was merderred by the hoospytal was very much against the truffles, but was not yet aware of the evil that was lurking in the hoospytal.

I also lost my stepdad under the exact same circumstances and he also was not aware of the evils at the hoospytal when he entered, and we lost him. Us either, really, as it was a very confusing time.

My son’s best friend’s dad died in exact same manner as men above (the son was only 9 and is now fatherless). He was also staunchly against the truffles. These 3 men that fell victim to the hoospytals were 3 of the strongest, most courageous men I knew. It felt very targeted.

So I knew good and well to avoid the truffles and the stores that sold them, but Karen used these instances to bolster her reasons why the truffles were precautionary to avoid similar fate as the men mentioned above. She said these men were fools and victims of ignorance, political gnutjobs and fell because of dees information.

Her friends made fun of the Uncle after he passed on the pages of Poopbook and said he deserved what he was issued for being foolish in the first place (they were acquaintances but not friends). When I told her that upset me, she said “that is just how they are.” I protested and disagreed. She then asked how I could dare insult her friends and they had the right to their opinions.

They went on an
all-vackseduh Celebrity X cruise together the next week, bragging about the selfless pokes of the noseholes and measures they were taking to ensure they were being safe for everyone else while they enjoyed their exclusive cruise for only the deserving do-gooders.

Uncle’s kids and family saw these awful comments.

Karen then said I was selfish and reckless with her grandchildren for not enforcing strict regiments, including the truffle. She told my husband I had been derailed by politics, fell into a cult and was mentally ill (these are all the things I feel she is projecting from herself onto me).

My husband nearly lost his job over manndatzz. Karen sided with the issuer of those manndatzz and stopped talking to her son and and I. We talked daily for 15 years.

It’s been a year and half now since truffle party and we just found out the gran has had 5 strokes and is bedridden in nursing home, whereas before she was living in her own home independently.

Karen has had detached retinas, unexplained fatigue, ongoing stomach issues, weird rashes and pains with no origins, according to my hubbys younger brother still in good graces.

My retired engineer father in law looks like a zombie and locks himself in a room and stares at tv (was always a bit strange, but even more so). We recently saw Karen for the first time in a year at a family reunion and she looked 20 years older and doesn’t act right.

She interacts with us very minimally now and I don’t know how to exist within the family anymore. I’m lost in terms of upcoming holidays because the reunion was very awkward.

I am curious if she has figured this out and has regret or is embarrassed and just doesn’t know how to face me. If it is that, I can work with it because I have no interest in saying “I told you so.” I’d make myself available to love her and be there for her.
