Even the most dedicated news avoider could not escape the media storm surrounding Green Party MP Benjamin Doyle and their social media posts this week.
Doyle had shared photos of a child on Instagram, one reading ‘bussy galore’, another labelled ‘swipe left to see [eggplant emoji]’. These went viral primarily due to social media posts by Winston Peters, New Zealand’s Deputy Prime Minister and leader of the NZ First Party, and several conservative and religious groups.
I had to Google what “bussy” meant.
Doyle’s posts were highly inappropriate, and I struggle to see in what context this supposed ‘slang’ attached to a photo of a minor would be considered amusing—especially when shared by a sitting member of Parliament. They were clearly asking for trouble.

Her malicious moves didn’t stop there: gangs fattened on public funds, crimes were decriminalized, and foreign NGO money flowed into NZ to fund foot soldiers for protests - directed by her Harvard overlords - flooded in to cement a Marxist Maori ascendancy.
Then came COVID, her crowning betrayal.
Lockdowns crushed us, mandates robbed livelihoods, dying Kiwis were barred from their families, and she gaslit a nation into an experimental jab now exposed as a deadly weapon - ruining healthy lives while she ignored the Wellington protests’ desperate cries.
Hated like no other? Damn fucking right. She’d be misguided to stroll our streets again. As for her media lapdogs and NGO cronies wailing at her exit - your turn’s coming. We won’t forgive, and we won’t forget.

Apparently using the term "bussy galore" for a group of images makes it more understandable as opposed to for a single picture as a source close to Benjamin Doyle told the NZ Herald, because the term referred to Ben himself.
OK.
The Greens have painted themselves into a corner with the way they have handled this scandal.
The only option they have, is to stand Doyle down, whilst a full investigation takes place.
Then, in my opinion, the only option they have is, at minimum, fire him for inappropriate social media posts (private account or not, this is not good behavior) and not being suitable for public office.
If anything of an illegal nature came to light during the investigation then the police would need to take over.
If the Green Party leadership don't take this seriously then the whole party will be done.
