NZ (former sir) Ron Brierley is facing three fresh charges of possessing child abuse material after an appearance in court in Australia today.

Aged 87, Brierley appeared in the Waverley Local Court in Sydney this afternoon following his arrest by police this morning.

The multi-millionaire was granted bail on condition he stay at his home on Sydney’s waterfront and not have in his possession any device capable of accessing the internet other than a digital television, radio or kitchen appliances.

The new charges follow Brierley’s fall from grace after being stopped at Sydney International Airport in 2019.

His devices were searched and he was charged with possessing more than 11,000 images of girls aged 4-15.

In 2021, Brierley pled guilty to three counts of possessing child sexual exploitation material and spent four months of a seven month sentence in prison. He served the remainder of his sentence at home after suffering poor health in prison.

In the wake of his conviction, he was stripped of his knighthood.

At the time, Brierley cut a frail figure when he appeared in court, needing a cane for support.

🇺🇸 Not a good day on Wall St today. $1.7 trillion ($1,700,000,000,000) wiped out from the US stock market.

NEW🤨: A senior official at USAID instructed the agency’s remaining staff to convene at the agency’s now-former headquarters in Washington on Tuesday for an “all day” group effort to destroy documents stored there, many of which contain sensitive information.

The materials earmarked for destruction include contents of the agency’s “classified safes and personnel documents” at the Ronald Reagan Building, said an email sent by USAID’s acting executive director, Erica Carr, and obtained by POLITICO.

“Shred as many documents first, and reserve the burn bags for when the shredder becomes unavailable or needs a break,” the email said. Carr instructed staff to label the burn bags with the words “SECRET” and “USAID/B/IO/” (agency shorthand for “bureau or independent office”) in dark Sharpie.

The email didn’t provide any reason for the document destruction. The building is being emptied out after mass layoffs, which may have disrupted routine document destruction timetables. Customs and Border Protection is planning to move into the USAID facility, having rented 390,000 square feet of office space in the building last month.

The effort also underscores the tumultuous way in which the Trump administration is dismantling an agency that once managed a $40 billion annual budget and had more than 10,000 staff around the world.

Thomas Massie is being attacked by President Trump who has vowed to produce a primary challenger who will remove him before the next election.

Thomas Massie is one of the very few congressmen who are not under the thumb of AIPAC, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee. He has taken no money from Israeli lobbyists. This makes him a favourite of those MAGA and MAHA supporters who understand how Israeli money is buying both Republican and Democrat parties.

President Trump is wrong on this one. We’ll learn something about where his loyalties lie by seeing what happens next on this issue. (mb)

MAUI POLICE CHIEF NAMED IN DIDDY LAWSUIT

Maui Police Chief John Pelletier fired back at Maui County Mayor Richard Bissen after the mayor recommended the chief take administrative leave following accusations he once served as muscle in a multi-state crime syndicate for Sean “Diddy” Combs.

In a statement released Tuesday, Pelletier called the mayor’s ask “premature” and “unjust.”

Meanwhile, the plaintiff’s lawyers included what they claim is a photograph of Pelletier with the rap mogul in a civil lawsuit filed Friday.

Pelletier has denied any connection to people named in the suit, calling the allegations “completely false.”

According to a legal expert, the case will now head to court where it will be up to a judge to determine if the allegations are credible enough to move forward.

Pelletier is named as one of more than a dozen defendants, including NFL star Odell Beckham Jr. and comedian Druski, in an amended complaint that claims they were part of the “Diddy Sexual Abuse Coverup Enterprise.”

The chief calls the allegations “unfounded.”

Greenland elections - moving towards independence from Denmark.

Results of Greenland’s elections have put two pro-independence parties in the majority.

Center-right Demokraatit (Democrat) party, with 30% favours a gradual approach towards independence, while second-place Naleraz (25%) advocates for more immediate moves toward independence and self-determination.

The issue of Greenland’s independence from Denmark received sudden world exposure when Donald Trump suggested it become a state of the US. He even made the following promise to Greenlanders:

Zelensky was told by Trump that he wasn’t holding good cards. His hand has just got even weaker. Russia is expected not to reject outright the peace proposals negotiated with Ukraine by the US but to put forward counter-proposals in a way that keeps the peace process alive.

The American media is doing its best to ignore the biggest news this week.

As Alex Berenson notes, while every legacy media outlet is reminding you it’s been exactly five years since the Little Epidemic That Could started its long chug into your lungs, or at least your upper respiratory tract, two big German newspapers - Zeit and Süddeutsche Zeitung -broke some actual news.

Turns out, Germany’s Federal Intelligence Service (BND) has long had evidence that the Covid-19 virus originally came from a lab in Wuhan, China.

It was kept classified, however.

Jacinda Ardern is releasing her first children’s book, Mum’s Busy Work.

The book, which Ardern claims celebrates working mothers and their children, is supposedly inspired by conversations with her daughter, Neve, during her tenure as prime minister.

Ardern became prime minister in 2017 and had her daughter in 2018.

Despite her often-criticized leadership and abrupt resignation, she now appears to be repackaging her political image through the lens of motherhood.

“I hope every child knows they are our life’s greatest work,” Ardern stated.

Christchurch illustrator Ruby Jones, an admirer of Ardern, provided the book’s artwork and expressed excitement about working with her. Jones believes Mum’s Busy Work captures special family moments, though many New Zealanders may recall Ardern’s time in office as marked by divisive policies rather than warm parenting anecdotes.

The book is set for release on September 30 in New Zealand, Australia, the US, and the UK.

Meanwhile, Ardern, who now lives in Boston with her husband and daughter, continues to build her post-political career as a lecturer and public speaker.
