A YOUNG COP ATTEMPTED TO ARREST A MAN FOR PARKING ON A BERM

This video was uploaded to tik tok after a man clearly knew his rights as a young cop tried to get the better of him.

The cop came out looking like a chump.

Here's the rules around berm parking:

Parking on a berm in New Zealand is usually not allowed and can result in a fine. 

Why parking on berms is not allowed -
Safety: It can reduce visibility for pedestrians and drivers, especially at intersections
Utility services: It can damage utility lines and make it harder to maintain infrastructure
Appearance: It can make a neighborhood look unkempt
Footpaths: It can encroach on footpaths, especially for people who are visually impaired or use wheelchairs

Enforcement
Parking on berms can be ticketed under Road User Rule 6.14 

In areas with signage, parking on berms can be ticketed for "parking contrary to a restriction" 

Auckland Transport can enforce the rules on berms 

Exceptions 
In some cases, permission may be given to park on a berm with a specific license from Auckland Transport

UKRAINE WAR - LET’S TRY A BIT OF LATERAL THINKING: DEFUND UKRAINIAN OLIGARCHS

The Biden-era strategy till now focused on punishing Russia for its “unprovoked invasion of Ukraine”.

Musk, however, floats a new idea:

“Place sanctions on the top ten Ukrainian oligarchs, especially the ones with mansions in Monaco, and this will stop immediately. That is the key to the puzzle.”

Now why didn’t anyone else think of that?

The remark comes at the end of a week of intensive debate in Washington over whether continued US financial and military aid to Kyiv is sustainable or wanted by the American people as the war drags on with no clear end in sight. The general public is also beginning to realise how tax-payer money often does notr reach its destination but is being laundered back to various corrupt schemes in the US or to US defence companies (mb)

Did you know that under the 1939 Cancer Act, it's actually a criminal offense for medical practitioners to even advise patients on potential cancer cures?

This raises the question: wouldn't it be considered fraudulent for cancer charities to accept donations under the assumption that they are searching for a cure, when it's actually a criminal act for them to publicize such cures?

It's still in effect today, and medical practitioners have been prosecuted for attempting to cure cancer. In the United States, some have even been jailed for doing so.

Less than six months after Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced on social media that Donald Trump would push to remove fluoride from drinking water, a western state is prepared to make the leap.
Utah has passed a bill that bans the use of fluoride in public water systems, and the state’s governor says he will sign it, though even he admits it’s not a passion project of his.

“It’s not a bill I felt strongly about; it’s not a bill I care that much about, but it’s a bill I will sign,” Republican Gov. Spencer Cox told ABC4 Utah.

The bill is set to go into effect in early May and will be a first in the nation.

Kennedy and other opponents of fluoride allege it is linked to neurodevelopmental problems, but health officials say it is safe and has done a tremendous job in improving the oral health of Americans. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has called the addition of fluoride to drinking water one of the 10 best public-health achievements of the 20th century.

NZ (former sir) Ron Brierley is facing three fresh charges of possessing child abuse material after an appearance in court in Australia today.

Aged 87, Brierley appeared in the Waverley Local Court in Sydney this afternoon following his arrest by police this morning.

The multi-millionaire was granted bail on condition he stay at his home on Sydney’s waterfront and not have in his possession any device capable of accessing the internet other than a digital television, radio or kitchen appliances.

The new charges follow Brierley’s fall from grace after being stopped at Sydney International Airport in 2019.

His devices were searched and he was charged with possessing more than 11,000 images of girls aged 4-15.

In 2021, Brierley pled guilty to three counts of possessing child sexual exploitation material and spent four months of a seven month sentence in prison. He served the remainder of his sentence at home after suffering poor health in prison.

In the wake of his conviction, he was stripped of his knighthood.

At the time, Brierley cut a frail figure when he appeared in court, needing a cane for support.

🇺🇸 Not a good day on Wall St today. $1.7 trillion ($1,700,000,000,000) wiped out from the US stock market.

NEW🤨: A senior official at USAID instructed the agency’s remaining staff to convene at the agency’s now-former headquarters in Washington on Tuesday for an “all day” group effort to destroy documents stored there, many of which contain sensitive information.

The materials earmarked for destruction include contents of the agency’s “classified safes and personnel documents” at the Ronald Reagan Building, said an email sent by USAID’s acting executive director, Erica Carr, and obtained by POLITICO.

“Shred as many documents first, and reserve the burn bags for when the shredder becomes unavailable or needs a break,” the email said. Carr instructed staff to label the burn bags with the words “SECRET” and “USAID/B/IO/” (agency shorthand for “bureau or independent office”) in dark Sharpie.

The email didn’t provide any reason for the document destruction. The building is being emptied out after mass layoffs, which may have disrupted routine document destruction timetables. Customs and Border Protection is planning to move into the USAID facility, having rented 390,000 square feet of office space in the building last month.

The effort also underscores the tumultuous way in which the Trump administration is dismantling an agency that once managed a $40 billion annual budget and had more than 10,000 staff around the world.
