A public meeting will be held in Whangarei on Sunday April 24, Forum North Centre, 1pm.
Key players trying to get the government to take action to keep the Marsden Point oil refinery in operation will speak.
Craig Harrison is secretary of the Maritime Union which represents the seafarers who crewed the two coastal tankers that's delivered refined fuel.
Aaron Holyrood, a senior operator has spent most of his working life operating the complex equipment that turns crude oil into fuel.
Brian Cox is the chief executive of the Bio-Energy Association, whose members are involved in research, development, and production of advanced alternative fuels.
Edward Miller is from First Union which represents most of the workers bring made redundant.
Chris Leitch is leader of the Social Credit party which gathered 18,300 signatures on a petition to halt the closure.

The powers that shouldn't be, don't want you to know you are welcome at this years dawn service at the Auckland War Memorial.
We will be there from 5.30am to pay our respect to our forebears and the sacrifices they made defending freedom.
Then at around 8am, we have been invited to cover the continuing stand at the Governor General's residence.
Our last event in Auckland, will be meeting with people who want us to join them at 2pm for the VFF picnic at the Domain wintergardens.
Then we will hit the road, and meet up for a cuppa with any of you in Dargaville.
