The fact that the US government's policies are simply bought by wealthy donors does not mean that money rules and ideas are impotent. Money rules only because people have accepted the idea that there's nothing more important than money and the things that it can buy. Money rules because people have accepted the idea that we don't have to worry about the common good, because everything works out for the best when people pursue their own selfish interests.
