Another intern doctor lost from the University of Gondar. Such a young life gone, this is deeply painful. It forces us to ask what is happening to our medical trainees and who will take responsibility to study the causes and find solutions.

Dear ERMP 2025 applicants

After a lengthy journey of screening of registered applicants, we are on the final step of finalizing the confirmation process, and by early next week, we’ll post a list of eligible candidates for the exam disaggregated by exam hub, together with an instruction about the exam. So far, more than 3000 applicants have been registered, and 2534 of them are confirmed.

Hereby, we would like to inform you that the ERMP 2025 (2018 academic year) entrance exam is scheduled to be conducted on Yekatit 9 and 10, 2018 EC (February 16 and 17, 2026 GC) nationally in the selected exam hubs.

ጤና ሚኒስቴር የጤናና ጤና ነክ ተቋማትን የአገልግሎት አሰጣጥ ደህንነትን እና ጥራት ለማሻሻል ዘርፈ ብዙ የቁጥጥር ስራዎችን እያከናወነ ይገኛል። በዚህ መሰረት የጤናና ጤና ነክ ተቋማት እና ባለሙያዎች ቁጥጥር መሪ ስራ አስፈፃሚ የቁጥጥር ዘርፉን አቅምና ውጤታማነት ለማሻሻል ከሚሰሩ ስትራቴጂካዊ እርምጃዎች ውስጥ አንደኛው የጤና ቁጥጥር ስርዓትን ዲጂታላይዝድ ማድረግ ነው።

ሀኪሞች ለምን ይሰደዳሉ?!

Some points to increase couples satisfaction during ultrasound scanning

My own perspective

As is well known, pregnancy is a new, unique and exciting experience for the woman in particular, and the couple as a family. So during ANC visits, among the elements that are essential, sonographic scanning is one of them.

Hence rather than just scanning with muted and gloomy look, there are some points I have gained from my own small experience can be used to increase our client’s satisfaction

1. Do not prohibit the husband from entering the ultrasound room

In countries like Ethiopia, where ANC ultrasound rooms are super busy— with more than 30-40 mothers scanned in most of the hospitals—this may seem impractical. But think of it: what additional time would be wasted by just allowing her spouse to enter the room with her? Infinitesimal, right?

I am not calling for inviting the husband in (that would be compelling though) but at least do not prohibit him or kick him out when he is eager to get involved in the procedure.

2. Discuss your findings with her/them

The usual trend, especially in public hospitals, is to inform her/them when there are abnormal observations. Even if the sonographic findings are normal, tell her/them that the unborn baby is doing well in the womb.

Tell her about the presentation (አቀማመጡ ጥሩ ነው), the biophysical profile (እንቅስቃሴው አሪፍ ነው፣ የእንሽርት ውሃው በቂ አለ) and the likes, even if she doesn’t ask. Reassure her. She will appreciate it and it will create a good rapport with you.

3. Tell them the sex of the baby

Though this is somewhat controversial, it is routine to see couples informed about the sex of their unborn child in private settings. But the same personnel who does this in private practice are usually hesitant to do the same in public hospitals. Why?

I am not saying you have to tell to all pregnant women without their consent as there are some women who prefer to know only after their child is born. But why do you yell at a mother who is keenly interested to know the sex of her baby? That is her right, and telling her doesn’t make you any less professional.

However, taking much time figuring out the sex while compromising the anatomical scan and biophysical profile is not acceptable. But for those asking for it, just tell them what you see, nothing wrong with this.

4. Let her watch the ultrasound screen

Rotate the screen to her side and arrange it so she faces the screen and can watch her baby “play” (gross body movements and extremity movements). That will create a lasting memory and have a better impact on positive pregnancy experience.

5. Ask her whether she has any concerns or ailments

This is also usually overlooked. Rather than just having her leave after scanning, take a minute and ask her if she has any concerns, questions or ailments. You will get paramount information that could change your management plan.

Although there are other things that could be done for better patient satisfaction, I have focused on the above five points which I consider are usually undervalued.

​ጉዳዩ፡ በ2018 ዓ.ም (2026 እ.አ.አ) የሕክምና ስፔሻሊቲ መግቢያ ፈተና (ERMP) ውጤት ላይ የቀረበ አቤቱታ

​እኛ የ2018 ዓ.ም የሕክምና ስፔሻሊቲ መግቢያ ፈተና (ERMP) ተፈታኝ ሐኪሞች፣ በቅርቡ በኮምፒውተር (CBT) አማካኝነት በተሰጠው ፈተና ሂደትና ውጤት ላይ የታዩ ከፍተኛ ግድፈቶችን በመጥቀስ ይህንን የቅሬታ ደብዳቤ አቅርበናል።
​ፈተናው በቴክኒክም ሆነ በይዘት ረገድ የሚከተሉት መሠረታዊ ችግሮች የታዩበት መሆኑን እንገልጻለን፡-
፩. ​የቴክኒክ ብልሽት (የምስሎች አለመታየት)፦ በፈተናው ወቅት የራጅ (X-ray) ምስሎችን አይቶ ለመመለስ የሚጠይቁ ጥያቄዎች የነበሩ ቢሆንም፣ ምስሎቹ በሲስተሙ ላይ ባለመታየታቸው ተፈታኞች ጥያቄዎቹን መመለስ ሳይችሉ ቀርተዋል። ይህም በሲስተሙ ብቃት ላይ ጥርጣሬ ከመፍጠሩም በላይ ውጤታችን ላይ ቀጥተኛ ተጽዕኖ አሳርፏል።
፪. ​ከፍተኛ የጥያቄዎች ድግግሞሽ፦ በዘንድሮው ፈተና ላይ ካለፉት ዓመታት የተወሰዱ ጥያቄዎች ከ35% በላይ (መጠነኛ ማስተካከያ ብቻ የተደረገባቸውን ሳይጨምር) ተደግመው ቀርበዋል። አንድ አገር አቀፍ ፈተና እንዲህ ያለ ከፍተኛ የድግግሞሽ መጠን መያዙ የፈተናውን ሚስጥራዊነትና ተዓማኒነት (Exam Integrity) ጥያቄ ውስጥ የሚጥል ከመሆኑም በላይ፣ አዲሱን ተፈታኝ በትክክል ለመመዘን የሚያስችል የጥራት ደረጃ ላይ እንዳልነበረ ያሳያል።

፫. ​የውጤት መዛባትና የእርማት ስህተት፦ ብዙ ተፈታኞች ከፈተናው በኋላ የሰሩትን ስሌት ሲያሰሉ ከፍተኛ ውጤት እንደሚጠብቁ እርግጠኛ ቢሆኑም፣ ሲስተሙ የሰጣቸው ውጤት ግን እጅግ የወረደ ሆኖ ተገኝቷል። ይህም በኮምፒውተር እርማት (Grading Algorithm) ወቅት የቴክኒክ ስህተቶች ወይም የመልስ አቆጣጠር ችግሮች (Bugs) እንዳሉ በግልጽ ያሳያል።
፬. የይዘት አለመመጣጠን (Blueprint Violation)፦ ፈተናው አስቀድሞ በተቀመጠውና ተፈታኞች እንዲዘጋጁበት በተደረገው የፈተና ማዕቀፍ (Blueprint) መሠረት አልተዘጋጀም። በተወሰኑ የሕክምና ዘርፎች ላይ ብቻ ያተኮረና ሌሎችን ዘርፎች ያገለለ ሆኖ በመገኘቱ፣ የተፈታኞችን አጠቃላይ ዕውቀት በትክክል መመዘን አልቻለም።

​ይህ ፈተና የብዙ ሐኪሞችን የቀጣይ የትምህርት እና የሥራ ዕጣ ፈንታ የሚወስን የላቀ ሙያዊ ጉዳይ በመሆኑ፣ ሚኒስቴር መሥሪያ ቤቱ የሚከተሉትን እርምጃዎች በአስቸኳይ እንዲወስድልን እንጠይቃለን፡-
​የፈተናው ሂደትና የሲስተሙ ትክክለኛነት በቴክኒክ ባለሙያዎች እንዲመረመር/እንዲያስመረምር፤
​የመልስ ቁልፎቹ በከፍተኛ የሕክምና ባለሙያዎች በድጋሚ ታይተው ስህተቶች እንዲታረሙ፤
​የምስል አለመታየትና የጥያቄ ድግግሞሽ ያመጣው ተፅዕኖ ታይቶ ውጤታችን በድጋሚ እንዲሰላ።
​የሕክምና ማኅበረሰቡ በፈተናው ሂደት ላይ ያለውን አመኔታ ለመመለስና ፍትሃዊነትን ለማረጋገጥ ሚኒስቴሩ የሚሰጠው አፋጣኝ ምላሽ ወሳኝ መሆኑን እንገልጻለን።

R1ኡ morning ከመግባታቸው በፊት የመጀመሪያ ዲውቲውን አድሮ ሞርኒግ ለሚያቀርበው አዲስ ብራንድ ኢንተርን እንዴት እንደሚያቀርብ እያስረዳው ነው፤እንዳያስፎግር።

ዶክዬ admission እነዚህ እነዚህን discharge እነዛን referral ደሞ እነዚህን ብቻ ታቀርባለህ። ያ deathኡን ግን cascade ስላለው swallow አድረገናታል እሺ ዶክዬ?? ባንድ አይኑ እየጠቀሰው 😉 ያልገባህ ነገር አለንዴ? ሲለው «ኧረ ግልፅ ነው» "በቃ አሪፍ ያው ደሞ ካንቺ የተራረፈው ወደኛ እንዳይመጣ scienceዋንም ቸከል ቸከል አድርገሽ ነይ ኧ?! በተለይ downsyndrom እስከ pathophysiology አይፋቱሽም። By the way ከናንተ በፊት እንደነበሩት ባቾች mechanical worker ብቻ መሆን የለባችሁም they were the worest ever" ብሎት ተለያዩ። ኢንተርኑ ጠዋት ሲኒየሮቹ ፊት ሲያቀርብ ምን ቢል ጥሩ አይደለም😱?
