Hey everyone!
We've had some belting weather this summer so far, and it looks like it'll continue! However, this hot, dry weather, brings with it some risks.
And that's what we need to address today.
Many councils across the UK, including ours, have raised the wild fire risk level. Which effects what we are allowed to do on their land.
π These guidelines are subject to change depending on the weather.
At current, we've had to make some changes and wanted to let you know ASAP.
So let us explain what's changing, and why, before you start getting ready for your tripπ
Camping stoves and open flames are no longer permitted on site.
This includes camping stoves (gas or liquid fuel), disposable BBQs, and campfires of any kind. No exceptions.
We know this will be disappointing news for a lot of you, cooking your own food at camp is part of the ritual (pun intended). But Elvaston Castle, our home this year, sits on a mixture of now, dry grassland and woodland.
A single stray ember, a stove being knocked over, or gust of wind near an open flame is all it takes for a small mistake to become a very big problem.
As we're sure you can all understand, that's not a risk we're willing to take with your safety, or the landscape and it's wildlife.
Smoking areas. π
We'll have two dedicated smoking areas on site this year which are easy to get to, each with proper bins, dampened ground and sand buckets for safe disposal.
If you smoke, you must stick to the designated smoking areas.
Why we're doing this?β
It's not just us. Many small and major camping / festival events across the UK are now following the same guidance and rules as a means to keep everyone safe. This is a nationwide choice councils are making to ensure safety.
Elvaston Castle is a beautiful, living landscape that is home to wildlife, ancient trees, and grassland that takes years to recover from fire damage.
We're doing everything we can behind the scenes too, extra fire watch patrols, extinguishers, water stationed across the site, and daily monitoring of fire risk conditions along with many other safety measures.
But we need your help to make this work β€οΈ
Don't worry, you won't go hungry! π
We've got a variety of food traders on site this year serving options that cater to all! And of course we'd recommend that you bring snacks and munchies that you can enjoy.
If you need hot water for a noodle pot, you may approach crew who can assist, or our tea/coffee/desert trader will have some.
We appreciate this is a change, but we're grateful for your understanding. And of course, if conditions change we will let you know! π
If you've got questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to us at @CoreElementFestival or core.element@botbevents.com

COMMUNAL COOKING AREA! π³
After some discussions with the council, and making some changes to our fire safety planning, we are pleased to announce that we have a COMMUNAL COOKING AREA! - YOU CAN NOW USE YOUR GAS COOKING STOVES HERE!πΊ
PLEASE read the following info and rules as they are SUPER IMPORTANT
Camping stoves/gas stoves must be used within our new designated communal cooking Gazebo!
We've purchased a large Gazebo that will have surfaces where you can cook, all you need to do is bring your cooking equipment to the cooking area! :D
βΎ But, in order for this to be allowed there are some rules to follow:
β‘οΈ 1. Gas stoves only! - Disposable BBQ's or coal fire/wood fire cooking methods are still strictly prohibited across the site as they've always been.
β‘οΈ 2. Your gas stove / must be in good working order - It must not be damaged, severely rusted, or in an otherwise bad condition.
β‘οΈ 3. Be responsible - keep the cooking area clean and tidy, keeping it safe and nice for everyone else.
β‘οΈ 4. Using your gas stove elsewhere is strictly prohibited - We have to take this very seriously!
As long as these golden rules are followed, everyone is happy! ^^
We understood that for many of you, the sudden ban on camping stoves changed your plans, so we've worked hard to facilitate a communal cooking area so that we may cook in a controlled and safe zone.
Thank you for your patience, and understandingβ£οΈ

Hellooo creatures of the forest! Your big weekend is fast approaching, we hope you are all excited! Below are some helpful pointers and things we need to make you aware of :)
Getting there
Elvaston castle has it's main carpark entrance easily signposted, but that's not our carpark! Please head to the entrance indicated on the graphic below. It will be sign posted. The road you are looking for is called Bedford drive. The what3words for the entrance is ///Slurping.post.nozzle. (Hah).
If you are being dropped off in a taxi, you can use the main carpark entrance if you wish. It's much easier to turn around in and you will only have to make a short walk to the back of the field. You will spot us by the cars on the field and the fencing!
The other thing to bar in mind is Borrowash Bridge. PLEASE AVOID! This bridge is single lane traffic and is traffic light operated. It does not take much to back this road up and we cannot have that. Please set your sat navs to go round this bridge. The what3words for the bridge is ///tilt.mingles.curated
Fire watch
As many of you know, the council have raised the fire risk level. That means we MUST comply as an event and as attendees. Thankfully, we have been able to find some compromises with the council this year!
You may bring your gas powered stoves, but please use the communal cooking marquee. This will be sign posted.
You may smoke, but you must head to the two RED mini marquees to do so. These marquees have water buckets, sand buckets, dampened ground and cigarette bins. A discarded ciggy butt next to a tent can become a problem very fast on the dry grass. Respect the venue and each other, please stay safe.
Weather
We are set to have some lovely daytime weather this year. Not too hot, not too cold! We do want to highlight however, that nighttime will be as low as 12 degrees. So please pack warm for night time. Thick pyjamas, thick sleeping back, extra blankets and thick socks. Good thick socks will help your body stay warm at night. Please heed us, pack warmer than you expect! 12 degrees in a bed is far different to 12 degrees with the earth underneath you!
Upon arrival
Please have your ID and ticket details ready! Baggage checks will be performed by our external security team as is normal for festival events. Please flag any weapon / prop replica items you have so they can be inspected.
If you upgraded your ticket using the upgrade system, please let the reg team know when they ask about your ticket tier.
Please also let them know if you are a DJ, events host, vendor, or guest. Your process may be a bit different and you may require an extra wrsitband.
Bar / communal area
Plenty to see and do, but your bar area is your go to for a lot of things this year!
- Charity donation QR codes will be sign posted here.
- Merchandise will be sold at the bar also, along with some surplus items from last year and exclusive festival items.
- You can purchase shower tokens from here.
- You can approach bar members for the end of the puzzle challenge.
- You can sit down to eat, drink and chat here.
- Play some games we have provided.
And of course, you can grab all sorts of fantastic drinks here! Our bar team have crafted some amazing cocktails for you to try. They also toured Nottingham, trying various independent breweries to find the best ones. They've worked really hard! Our bar is how the festival survives. If you can, please support the bar. All bar and merch sales go straight into funding our running costs.
Please also review our alcohol policy before packing :) Please understand the policy is not just about our bar surviving. it is a legal licensing requirement for us, as the venue, to reasonably manage the amount of alcohol on site for safety reasons.
Campsite etiquette.
This year we have a much larger area which is great! We are also sectioning some walk ways through the campsite so that it's easier to navigate. These will
