We achieved a major breakthrough with Figure-01's AI.
It can learn how to self-correct tasks just by watching humans do tasks.
For example, we can now get human data for applications like making coffee, and train the AI system end-to-end.
https://twitter.com/i/status/1743987597301399852
Google DeepMind and Stanford researchers introduced Mobile Aloha.
It's an open-source robotic system capable of completing complex tasks like cooking, cleaning, and more.
Notably, the cooking skills were remotely controlled (by humans).
https://twitter.com/i/status/1742603121682153852
On top of Mobile Aloha, Google DeepMind wrote up this long thread of their new robotics research.
Advancements include AutoRT for data collection, SARA-RT for faster transformers, and RT-Trajectory for better motion generalization.

Researchers just developed DeWave.
The new AI system can turn silent thoughts into text by decoding brain signals.
The system achieved over 40% accuracy in translating verbs directly from neural signals, without the need for invasive implants.

Isomorphic Labs, the London-based, drug discoveryโfocused spinout of Google AI R&D division DeepMind, today announced that itโs entered into strategic partnerships with two pharmaceutical giants, Eli Lilly and Novartis, to apply AI to discover new medications to treat diseases.
The deals have a combined value of around $3 billion. Isomorphic will receive $45 million upfront from Eli Lilly and potentially up to $1.7 billion based on performance milestones, excluding royalties. Novartis, meanwhile, will pay $37.5 million upfront in addition to funding โselectโ research costs and as much as $1.2 billion (once again excluding royalties) in performance-based incentives over time.
โWeโre thrilled to embark on this partnership and apply our proprietary technology platform,โ DeepMind co-founder and Isomorphic CEO Demis Hassabis said in a press release. โThe focus we share on advancing groundbreaking drug design approaches and appreciation of state-of-the-art science makes [these] partnership[s] particularly compelling.โ
The latest version of AlphaFold can generate predictions for nearly all molecules in the Protein Data Bank, the worldโs largest open access database of biological molecules, DeepMind announced in October. The model can also accurately predict the structures of ligands โ molecules that bind to โreceptorโ proteins and cause changes in how cells communicate โ as well as nucleic acids (molecules that contain key genetic information) and post-translational modifications (chemical changes that occur after a proteinโs created).
Already, Isomorphic is applying the new AlphaFold model โ which it co-designed with DeepMind โ to therapeutic drug design, helping to characterize different types of molecular structures important for treating disease.
The pressureโs on for Isomorphic to start generating a profit. In 2021, the company recorded a ยฃ2.4 million (~$3 million) loss as it ramped up hiring ahead of opening its second office location in Lausanne, Switzerland.

A reason we need beneficial AGI:
After five years of pain across many systems in her body (a broken foot from stepping off a curb, debilitating migraines, fatigue, joint pain and instability, etc), my wife was recently diagnosed with a genetic disorder called Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hEDS).
Because the medical system is designed for individual specialties while hEDS affects every system in her body (orthopedics, cardiology, neurology, gastroenterology, dermatology, etc), we spent five years seeing more doctors and specialists than in her whole life prior. Most doctors would only focus on what was relevant to their own specialty. We were lucky that her allergist (!!) put together the pieces after observing and hearing her full set of symptoms and issues.
As human medicine has progressed, it seems like we increase doctorsโ depth at the expense of breadth. We need better tools to be able to deliver depth and breadth simultaneously to patients. This is one promise of AGI if built right โ reliable, individualized, affordable healthcare in your pocket, like a panel of todayโs top doctors across every speciality working together in concert to keep you healthy (and without you needing to fax forms between them).
Thereโs still a long way to go on the technology and on learning how to deploy it beneficially along with appropriate professional human oversight in high-stakes areas like medicine, but the promise is getting increasingly clear. Thoughtfully approached by technology developers, healthcare providers, governments, and society, thereโs hope for much better care for every member of all of our families (including our non-human furry ones).

I just had a conversation with an in-game NPC that could easily appear scripted. Except it wasn't, at all. I asked a question, the NPC answered, and all thanks to Nvidia's ACE technology and Convai.
You might have caught sight of Nvidia ACE in action during the company's Special Address stream. It's essentially a technology that allows in-game NPCs to react and respond to players in real-time, with voiced dialogue and animations. Nvidia's been showing off the same tech demo called Kairos, which takes place inside a ramen restaurant in a cyberpunk world, since ACE was announced back at Computex.

Every day before I get out of bed, I cold message two new people that I admire. It never takes me more than 5 minutes. I've been doing this every morning for years, and it has gotten me:
- 4 internships
- my first full time PM job
- my first investor in my business
- a self-made female billionaire to fly me out to her office for a private meeting
- 3 new best friends
- an invitation to an exclusive founder retreat sponsored by Nike
- and my first five-figure brand deal!
Curious to see what a cold message like this looks like? DM me and Iโll send it to you
