❇️ The 22nd Vagantes Conference on Medieval Studies, Harvard University, March 16-18, 2023

The 22nd Annual Vagantes Conference on Medieval Studies invites abstracts from current graduate students and recently graduated MA students from all disciplines for papers on any topic related to the long Middle Ages and its study. The organizers welcome abstracts for traditional 20-minute conference papers, as well as performances or presentations that utilize other forms of media (artistic collaborations, digital humanities projects, etc). They also particularly encourage relevant presentations from students in the fields of historical preservation, museum studies, or library and information sciences.

📍Submissions should consist of a paper title, an abstract of 300 words, and a 1-page CV (including the applicant’s preferred name and pronouns), and should be submitted as a single PDF by Monday, November 28, 2022 to vagantesboard@gmail.com.

❇️ Title: Data Science Fellow


📍Basic Qualifications:

· A degree in CS at the BA/BS, MA or PhD level or higher (OR a graduate degree – MA or PhD in Islamic studies) AND experience of at least 3 years in software development is required before the start date.

· Excellent programming and problem-solving skills, as well as a solid background in structured and unstructured database design, text analysis, and machine learning.

· The Fellow must be self-directed and able to innovatively apply relevant research methods to this use case.

Highly Preferred Qualifications:

· Knowledge of Arabic, Persian, Ottoman Turkish, or another relevant ME language

· Full-stack development experience: esp. knowledge of Ruby, React, Python, front-end and back-end development and design, structured and unstructured databases

TO APPLY: Applicants should submit: 1) a CV/resume, 2) an unofficial transcript of terminal degree, 3) a cover letter describing their experience with data science, 4) a 1-2 page document describing 3 representative projects, sites, or apps together with links to any online portfolio, sites, and/or data repositories on Github or elsewhere), and 5) names and contact information of 2 references. Irish Yearbook of International Law Call for Submissions, Volume 15 (2021-2022)

The Editors of the Irish Yearbook of International Law invite submissions on any area of public or private international law for publication as an article in the Yearbook. Submissions are normally 10,000 to 12,000 words in length, although longer pieces will be considered. Submissions, comprising a brief 100-word abstract, article referenced in OSCOLA style, and confirmation of exclusive submission, should be sent to James Gallen (james.gallen@dcu.ie) by 31 March 2023. In particular, the Editors welcome papers that address the role of Ireland at the United Nations Security Council, elected in 2020 as a non-permanent member for 2021 and 2022.

The Editors are happy to consider books written by authors from anywhere in the world and on any topic loosely within the theme of International Law. This is a great opportunity for Early Career Researchers in particular to learn about the publishing process. If the Editors agree to publish a review, they will arrange for a free book to be sent to the reviewer. To apply for a Visiting Fellowship for 2023–2024, please submit the following materials via the online application form:

a curriculum vitae
a recent publication or a writing sample (approximately 25 pages in length). All publications or writing samples should be in English.
a research statement, not to exceed 1000 words, that: 1) describes the proposed work during the fellowship period. The proposal should outline a specific research project that can be accomplished during the Fellow’s residence at Harvard Law School; and 2) sets forth a specific work output for the completed project (e.g., book, article, database/website entries).
You will be asked to arrange that TWO letters of recommendation be submitted directly from your referees via our online portal. The application form includes a separate link for you to provide your referees. If more than two letters are sent, there is no guarantee that all letters will be read.
