[ NEW ] Israeli forces have used a prohibited chemical substance in southern Lebanon, according to a complaint submitted by the Lebanese government to the UN Security Council.

Laboratory tests on soil samples from Aita al-Shaab, Ras Naqoura, and Al Dhahira confirmed that Israeli forces sprayed glyphosate across border villages on February 1.

Levels reached up to 22,750 micrograms per gram of soil — a concentration that, according to the Lebanese foreign ministry, amounts to the use of herbicides as weapons, in direct violation of the Chemical Weapons Convention.
