In Islamic thought, adab is the ability to recognize the proper place of things:

- when to speak and when to keep silent
- what to prioritise and what to defer
- how to carry knowledge without being deformed by it
- when to be firm and when to be gentle
- who to take from and who to leave
- how to differ without transgressing

A person can be informed but indecent, articulate yet misaligned. When adab is lost, knowledge becomes loud, confidence turns into arrogance, and discourse collapses into performance.

Civilizational collapse doesn't begin with ignorance, but with the erosion of moral intelligence.
