🇹🇬 BREAKING: Researchers Used Anthropic’s Claude to Breach OpenAI’s Internal GitHub

Security researchers at Hacktron AI claim they chained two vulnerabilities to compromise OpenAI’s community forum and access employee accounts connected to ChatGPT, Codex and GitHub.

The attack reportedly started with a malicious HEIF/HEIC image exploiting a vulnerable libheif decoder, allowing code execution on the forum server. Researchers then chained this with a flaw in OpenAI’s “Sign in with OpenAI” SSO system.

They demonstrated access by opening a harmless pull request in an internal OpenAI repository, while stating that they did not read sensitive source code.

Hacktron says Claude Opus 5 helped develop the working exploit after an earlier Claude model struggled. OpenAI reportedly patched the SSO issue within about 14 hours and paid a $6,500 bounty.

🇹🇬 BREAKING: 16 Arrested in Lucknow Over Fake U.S. Scam Call Center

Lucknow Police detained 16 people, including four women, after raiding a suspected international cyber-fraud call centre in Aliganj. Police allege the operation targeted U.S. citizens through fake technical-support helplines.

According to investigators, callers allegedly posed as software or tech-support representatives, gained remote access to victims computers using remote-access tools, and obtained sensitive banking information. Some reports say victims were later handed over to another team that allegedly impersonated U.S. government officials and demanded money.

Police reportedly recovered 36 laptops, 20 mobile phones, 5 routers and other equipment from the premises. Investigators are still trying to identify the wider network, its operators and the total amount allegedly stolen.

Bengaluru Police arrested 3 men after uncovering a network involving 507 mule bank accounts allegedly used to route cyber-fraud proceeds. The probe began after a resident lost ₹93.58 lakh in a fake investment scheme promoted through WhatsApp.

Police found 51+ APK files, including SMS/OTP-forwarding malware that allegedly allowed fraudsters to remotely operate bank accounts. Investigators also identified the use of WhatsApp, Telegram and Binance wallets and possible network links to Kolkata, Hong Kong and California.

Authorities are now tracing the wider network and intermediaries connected to the 507 accounts.
