Understand the personality of Rêber APO through the eyes of Şehîd Sara

Since the international conspiracy who lead to the kidnapping of Rêber APO (Abdullah Öcalan) in 1999, the 4th of April became one of the dates of struggle celebrated not only by the Kurdish society but any other people who defend his paradigm. To understand all the phases the movement went through until nowadays effort for peace and democracy launched by Rêber APO it is necessary to understand his personality and how it shaped the ideology that allowed the PKK to continue fighting.

We will explain Rêber APO’s approach to the struggle through the eyes of Şehîd Sara, the vanguard of women’s liberation.

This brochure contains various texts from the Defence writings of Rêber APO (Abdullah Öcalan), which deal with the origins of the Arab-Jewish conflict and solutions for a Middle East of Freedom, Peace and Equality.

The various text sections were compiled by the "Abdullah Öcalan Academy of Social Sciences" in North-East Syria.

🚩 Let's go out on May Day – From Rojava to the whole world: Build a socialist life!

The intervention of the Kurdish freedom movement against the plans to reshape the Middle East has, with the Rojava Revolution, created a reality that cannot be denied or destroyed. The alternative to sexism, war, and misery lies in the peaceful coexistence of peoples based on the principles of women's liberation, ecology, and radical democracy.

The call for peace and a democratic society now written by Rêber APO can mark the beginning of a new stage in which even greater efforts will be made to build, through peaceful coexistence, a genuine tenderness between peoples who have been at war with each other for over a hundred years. It is up to us to recognize the necessity and urgency of Rêber APO's physical freedom, to strengthen his position through our struggle, and to gather around him.

Şehîd Mizgîn – What would life be without music?

Şehîd Mizgîn, who, as a Kurdish woman, musician, politician, and guerrilla fighter, waged an all-encompassing struggle against genocide and fascism and for a meaningful, artistic, and free life. After meeting Rêber APO in Lebanon she played an important role in building the Kurdish women’s movement and culture movement.
On May 11, 1992, Turkish soldiers launched an operation against Şehîd Mizgîn’s unit. Even in this situation, she proved her character. She fought with her comrades until the last bullet and went down in the history of the Kurdish freedom movement as a courageous and warm-hearted artist and guerrilla fighter.

PKK 12th Congress Council:

• Our congress was held safely with the participation of 232 delegates.

• The work carried out under the name of PKK has been terminated.

• The reorganization of Kurdish-Turkish relations is inevitable.

• We call on everyone to participate in the Peace and Democratic Society Process.

• The Turkish Grand National Assembly must play its role with historical responsibility.

• We call on international powers not to hinder the democratic solution.

• We declare the martyrdom of comrades Ali Haydar Kaytan and Rıza Altun.

During the PKK's 12th congress, in which the dissolution of the party and the end of the armed struggle was announced the cadres swore to continue the struggle for a free life:

and struggle against the Dominant Male Civilization
and the Statist System.
I will commit to the Democratic Communes System
based on Women's Liberation.
Under all circumstances
I will expand the struggle for the liberation of the Kurdish people.
I will play a vanguard role on the building of the Democratic Society.
I will defend Democratic Socialism and Free Life.
I will bring to life all the values that the PKK built.
I will struggle for the Middle East and the Democratic World.

Back then, there was a strong will for a new beginning. Now, there is a strong will to conclude that beginning historically. But this is not an end in the sense of termination. It is about ending one phase in order to pave the way for a newer, stronger, and more ambitious beginning."

Rêber APO’s call for Peace and a Democratic Society is a historical turning point. Rather then a call to end the struggle, it is a call to lift the struggle for Freedom and Democracy to a new, wider and more universal stage. Change and transformation are deeply embedded in the nature of the Universe and are the main principle of life itself. Every living being, every society, nation, organization and party that does not adhere to this principle is condemned to annihilation. Renewal and reconstruction is the way to secure the existence and freedom of any biological or social organism.

Rêber APO's Message on the Martyrdom of Ali Haydar Kaytan and Riza Altûn

Dear comrades,

It was with great sadness that I learned of the martyrdom of Ali Haydar Kaytan and Riza Altun.

I will make detailed assessments later in memory of my comrades, but for now I remember them with great respect.

Their place in our struggle for national existence and democratic communality is permanent.

They will also become the main inspirations for the paradigm of the new era and its institutions, and in this way they will fulfill their role forever.

They will always live and remain alive in our struggle as permanent guides.

On this occasion, I respectfully salute the decisions taken at the historic 12th Congress and the messages for the new era.
