Безумный и проклятый таймлайн. Пригожинские формирования без какого-либо сопротивления со стороны местных силовиков и военных захватили Ростов-на-Дону (и уверен, что из центрального штаба призывают солдат регулярной армии переходить на свою сторону). Есть неподтверждённые сообщения, что Воронеж также взят. Очевидно, что двигается Пригожин на Москву — когда начал вооружённый захват власти, тут или пан, или пропал.
Часть территории России де-факто уже не контролируется путинскими «властями». Власть (в значении power) перетекает из одного ржавого кровавого ведёрка в другое (обратно тоже может легко потечь, впрочем), а в ближайшие часы и дни решается, какое из дрянных ведёрок останется пустым. Ебала жаба гадюку, конечно.
Будьте осторожны и берегите себя.

Пять лет назад мы запустили Altt.me. В 2018 (кажется, что прошла уже вечность) в ответ на невиданные для того времени уровни цензуры мы создали независимую антицензурную платформу. С тех пор дела стали СИЛЬНО хуже (привет российскому фашизму), но мы всё ещё тут, up & running. Я счастлив и горжусь, что мы помогли миллионам людей свободно читать, создавать и шэрить контент. Нарисовал первую физическую картину с 23 февраля 2022. Гражданства — а особенно их проявления вроде паспортов — чем-то похожи на таро. У каждой карты каждой масти свои символы, плюшки и приколы, и достаются они во многом рандомно: ну вот такое ты вытянул сегодня. Вокруг них выстроены какие-то ритуалы, особые знаки, и кто-то вкладывает слишком много сверхсмыслов и фатализма в их значения. Они пророчат тебе возможности и наказания, прогнозируют неизбежность судьбы — но в то же время обещают возможность ей управлять, поглядывая на подсказки. И разница между херовой картой и лучшей слишком критична.

В начале августа я в третий раз запустил артшитпост-проект #2013monthchallenge. Он впервые появился в 2021 году, когда я решил каждый день в течение месяца постить так, будто на дворе сейчас 2013 год. Подход «сейчас 2013» касается всего: объектов фото, обработки, подписей и других выразительных приёмов. То, что задумывалось как разовая акция, стало серией. Каждый год — в одни и те же даты.
Проект отражает изменения и во внешней социокультурной среде, и в нас самих. Он исследует связи между публичностью и приватностью, наивностью и наигранностью, непосредственностью, технологическим прогрессом, социальностью, восприятием обстановки, себя и других. Инстаграм в качестве медиума выбран не случайно: именно разрыв в его состоянии (между 2013 и 2021) показался мне наиболее иллюстративным, красочным, а также близким персональному опыту. Инстаграм, собственно, меня на эту мысль и натолкнул.
В этом году юбилей: с 2013 прошло целых 10 лет. А кажется, будто было вчера.

Over the past two years, the world has undergone a serious transformation. It all began with the buildup of Russian troops on the border of Ukraine. But the full-scale illegal and unprovoked invasion that followed was just the starting point. From then on…
To be completely honest, I’m kinda hypnotized by the shitshow we’re going through right now. Looking back on the pandemic, I remember the situation as unprecedented, unpredictable, frightening, but still somehow manageable. The two years that followed made everything worse.
Maybe it’s just me, but the level of overwhelming insanity seems to keep rising and rising and rising and rising… and it freaks me out.
At the end of 2019, I said we were entering the “roaring twenties,” a subtle feeling I captured while drawing “The pass to the 20’s”. I wish I was wrong, but I wasn’t.
Still, let your personal 2024 be better than 2023. Let’s take a deep breath, practice some self-care, and move on.

Yesterday I started a new round of my annual #2013monthchallenge art shitpost.
I hesitated a lot prior to deciding to continue the project. The state of the social media in 2024 is horrifying. It’s completely useless, meaningless, dead and broken. Even worse than it was when I decided to use it as a medium for 2013mc. The medium is the message, and I don’t feel like feeding the audience shit.
I also thought that the means of expression had kinda exhausted themselves. A year, even used as a symbol of an era, can’t be stretched forever.
Yet, I realized that the core idea of 2013mc, a subversion of this mortally ill medium and the underlying toxic paradigm, becomes even more important as the situation worsens. Contemporary social media isn’t the medium of the project, 2013ish social media is. And the year, which lasts forever and can be re-visited is also a powerful antithesis to the shitshow narrative we’re in. Keep in mind that 2013 is not a salvation, though, and never has been. It is a guerriglia.

A year ago I woke up early to the sound of air raid sirens. No big deal, I thought — it happens from time to time. We grabbed our cats and went to the stairs, where we met our neighbors and heard heavy shelling. There we learned that almost the whole country was under fire. When the shelling stopped, we came back only to find that there were reports of a ground invasion.
It was a mess, chaos, massacre, bloody and pure evil. No info from the official sources, but lots of real-time civil coverage from the ground: groups of terrorists taking over the border; killing soldiers and civilians; burning houses, shooting strangers and cars in the streets; raping, torturing, taking hostages; advancing further. All of it live, with lots of video and photos. And the shelling continued. In the course of the following days, a building a few blocks from us was half destroyed by a rocket. A writing later appeared on it saying “three of my friends are dead”. Some time later, “three” was replaced by “four”.
In fact, since 7/10 a year ago, there have been only 17 days without air raid sirens in Israel. In the entire year of 2022, for instance, the sirens were only sounded on 23 days.
As I said, the shelling wasn’t the worst. It was the deadly barbaric hordes of Hamas criminals, sewing death — regardless of age, ethnicity, nationality, faith, occupation, wealth. Many people were taken hostage, and many are still being held by the terrorists.
They must be returned home. And this threat from barbaric, terrorist, totalitarian regimes around the world is our common problem, the world’s problem. Those who ignore it are fools; those who support it are bastards.

There’ll be some advancements in general, but the big lullaby that people like Altman or Musk (I already regret mentioning this sick fuck) are singing is — and will still be — no more than a foolish distraction.
We’ve seen it before: in the 60s-80s there were dreams of people casually traveling to the stars, and robots helping with daily routine. All we ended up with eventually is unusable ad-driven, data-stealing, hate-igniting (as well as hate-fueled) ‘social’ network. And the worst part of it, we made it ourselves. Nobody forced us to, it’s all our creation from head to toe.
Don’t get me wrong, I love the internet. In itself, it’s one of the humanity’s greatest leaps — a leap forward, into the future, a leap of faith; unconscious, unpredictable, yet pivotal and powerful. But what we have done to it — and by we I mean a range from lustful corporations and gutless governments to various shitheads like an average *-board ‘anon’ — is disgrace. Humanity invented social media, humanity killed it. Lol, hashtag whoopsey.
And if the dreams of the 60s-80s’ seem at least a little bit sincere and genuine, like people were trying to accomplish something meaningful, heading towards a better future, today’s bloated promises look and feel exactly like what they are: a tool to pump up stocks, to sell stuff, to stick a stick up your ass. AI, just like the internet and social media, is great. The guano we’re going to mold it into is not.
The process has already started, you can see it in the endless shitty AI integrations. Maybe we are the ones who can stop this from happening… this time?

The only possible response is either arrest or deportation (based on legal status) of anyone who’s involved in hate crimes and inciting racism (not only against Jews, but in general), or supports terrorism and dictatorship. Every person who supports terrorists is no better than them. The world’s on the brink, so actions must follow.
