Virologist Barry Schoub, the head of South Africa’s Ministerial Advisory Committee on COVID-19 vaccines has stated:

“It’s unlikely that it’s going to cause more severe disease, [...] Certainly what we’ve been seeing up to now… the great majority of the patients have been mild. In fact, there hasn’t been a very substantial increase in hospital admissions so far.”

Translation, we have not seen any severe disease yet from it.

Clinical trials are underway for children just 6 months of age. The push for vaccinating children comes despite the fact that many researchers strongly oppose it. There are many reasons this doesn't make much sense, and they are clearly outlined in the article.
